Go Early - This is great way to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in your own time. But try to get on the first boat out. There's set times to go out but not to come back so the two sites just get busier and busier as the day goes on. Beware that the ticket time is the time they open the doors to start the airline style security process rather than the time the boat leaves. So regardless of when you get there you'll still be queuing for some time. There's no further charge for the Ellis Island museum but you do have to book and pay more if you want to actually go into the Statue. We just decided to wander around and take photos outside.

Awesome Tour! - Sean was a fantastic tour guide. My husband and I really enjoyed his energy and all the stories he told. We definitely got a lot more out of the experience going with him. He was very friendly and helpful. He also took great photos of us. I will attach one below. He definitely made our trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island memorable :)

Can not miss state of liberty - Statue of Liberty is a New York Icon not to be missed. Whether you see it from the Statten island ferry or whether you go to the island depends on how long you have but if you have time , setoff at the island and go to the museum. There are free audio guides to pick up when you get off the boat. I don't think it's worth paying money to go to the crown. Ive done it in the past and it's just a lot of stairs. Better view of Manhattan from the boat coming over. Also worth going to Ellis island if you have time. A good museum there too. You can easily spend 1.5 hours on liberty island alone. The tickets for the ferry are free with New York pass

Great experience! - Not that it would have been that difficult but it was very crowded. This tour took the stress off of us to have to do a lot of pre planning. Our tour guide was Jett and he was very knowledgeable about the history of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We had a good time and continue to use Viator for our vacation tours.

My experience of Statue of Liberty and Ellis island tour with Sèan our tour guide - We loved our tour experience to the Statue of Liberty 🗽. Sèan, our tour guide was excellent.. he told us the best places to stand on the boat from New York City to Statue of Liberty and where to stand going from Statue of Liberty to Ellis island to get the best views. When we arrived at the Statue of Liberty sèan explained in great detail and performance of how the statue of liberty was made. It was almost like he was apart of it! Sèan was more than happy to take personal photos for us and the rest of the group. Whilst waiting for the boat to take us to Ellis island sèan told us some history about the place. Again he told us the best places to stand to see the amazing views of statue of liberty and New York city. When we arrived to Ellis island he told us the story of Annie’s arrival with her 2 younger brothers in great detail. You can tell Sèan is very passionate about his job and he is very knowledgeable. He made our experience very enjoyable. Many thanks Sean from Team UK

Mark was a great tour... - Mark was a great tour guide - great history of the statue & the island - well organised & easy to find the meeting place. Probably my misunderstanding but the 2 hour suggested timeframe is for the boat ride to & from Statue of Liberty/tour of the Statue - meaning the tour is strictly Statue of Liberty - Ellis Island is part of the ticket you purchase but you explore it on your own - no tour guide and it's realistically it's another 1 hour to see it properly or 3-3.5 hours in total. We had booked another tour immediately following based on 2 hours total. Just FYI. Good tour

Great for those without time to research - We got some fun facts about the statue but I do feel that the trip - especially the part to Ellis Island - could have been done on our own. A good tour and our guide definitely knew their stuff, but if you do your research properly you can probably just buy the ferry tickets and do it yourself.

BAD “TOUR” - The tour was booked for 10 am and I was told they “oversold” and to come back on the next tour. We waited for two hours at the location meet up waiting for a tour guide, only to be told that we couldn’t use our ticket when the time arrived. I also had to fight for a refund and spend additional hour(s) to get my money back. A half day wasted!!!! Save yourself heartache and book directly at Castle Clinton. Do not book with this service.
