What an amazing trip - we’ll worth doing - From being given your boarding tokens to stepping off the Clipper,it was wonderful! Staff were friendly and engaging. We were encouraged to help with the ropes to rise the sails, which was great fun ! The weather helped because the Sun was shining, there was a trumpet player, playing jazz, the bar was open and the Clipper was a fine specimen of a ship, plus we had amazing views of the Statue of Liberty and the wonderful New York sky line.

Wonderful experience! - The weather was gorgeous that day! The crew was very informative, helpful, and efficient. For being so young, they did a great job of sailing the ship. The views of the NYC skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and the surrounding areas are unique from the water and I definitely recommend it for anyone who hasn't seen them from that perspective yet, local or visitor. Being on the water under sail, with no motor noise is one of my favourite places to be. Highly recommended!

Great leisurely cruise on a cool ship - My wife and I were in NYC for the first time and really enjoyed this sail/cruise! The crew were great and the guitar player was entertaining but unobtrusive. The views were also great. Only suggestion would be to have snacks or food available for sale but I understand that the potential for cleanup on a ship might outweigh the benefits to the customer. Would recommend this tour.

Viator should not use this company.. - First, we were notified 1 hour prior to departure that the Clipper ship we booked on the east side of NYC was out of service, needed a new fuel pump. We were instructed to go to a different marina on the west side of Manhattan to board a schooner. (At some point, they should have acknowledged that this was an inconvenience, but that never happened) Sail time was supposed to be 3 pm. We were there last 3pm, but they crew was not ready. We watched as they chatted and flirted with each other, ignoring the guests standing fifty feet away.. We watched 2 crew members smoke cigarettes and toss the butts in the in the marina. It was gross, and I think, illegal in NYC. It was a lesson for our 4 young boys on how NOT to behave. At 3:20 they commenced boarding. The boat was overcrowded and 3 of our party members had to sit on the deck. They gave us a broken life preserver for one of our children. They didn't offer any beverages to the children. It's was not family friendly! The only time the lead speaker got animated was when she asked for tips at the end. They did the least amount possible. This is the first time we have been so disappointed by Viator's contractors. We always trusted Viator but if this is the new standard, we won't be so loyal in the future. We had a late start and ended early. Viator puts its reputation at risk with vendors like this motley crew.

Really disappointing for a sailing experience - Not the ship pictured, there was a tall ship nearly twice as big on the next pier. Between asking for help raising sails at the start & asking for tips at the end, nobody said 1 word. A little description of what we sailed past is needed. Never saw the captain. Not nearly enough seats, those in the middle can barely see & if you move around the ship, you either lose your seat or argue w whoever took it. You have to hunt for departure point, at the end of pier 17 w no signs anywhere. Weather was perfect the day I went. It is a short booze cruise w no tour guide, but you are on a sailboat to the Statue of Liberty, so not all bad.

Shambles - prepare for a disappointment. - What an absolute shambles. I was so looking forward to sailing on a tall ship on my birthday. Received an email 1 hour before to cancel the cruise. We were already at the pier. No sign of the ship. Cancelled due to ‘technical difficulties’. The two guys sent to represent the company were useless and kept saying they had no idea why/what to do etc. ‘we don’t know what’s going on either’ was what they said!! We booked online using a Go City pass and were offered to rebook on another day. (And they couldn’t help with that either) No good when you have a packed itinerary as you do when visiting NY!! People that had booked & paid by card had been rebooked onto the Sheerwater boat but that’s the other side of downtown Manhattan. Not awfully convenient for them and a ‘tough luck’ attitude for people like us using a pass. Something feels off re the cancelled trip. Seems more like lack of demand excuse or staffing etc. also felt like a huge scam. The two guys were also overheard by me to say ‘I had a feeling we weren’t going to be working today’ . So this isn’t a one-off. I also didn’t appreciate being told not to use trains due to terrorism threats which are unsubstantiated. I really don’t care that he chose to bike to work because of this. Don’t deflect the problem of the cancelled cruise into a sympathy plea. Reading recent reviews this seems to be a theme so just be prepared for a disappointment. Zero customer service and a ‘don’t blame me’ attitude from their crew representative.

Didn’t go! - They changed the location at the last minute, and was not the same ship at all. We called many times and spent 100$ on Ubers to get there and they were literally just untying as we ran up and asked them to wait and they took off. So wasted a lot of money and didn’t get to go. Then had to spend a ton more to get back to the other end of manhattan to get back to our hotel! 😡

Cancelled with 2hrs notice. - Informed by email at 1.30pm due to "Delayed Maintenance " our 3.30 sailing was cancelled. So either very bad planning or somethings broken. As an international visitor zero support was offered when I asked if I could rebook in the next two days before we flew home, "We will let you know if anything opens up". Recommend you go with an opperator who has more than one vessal.
