  • Lucille Lortel Theatre - The Lucille Lortel Theatre is an off-Broadway playhouse at 121 Christopher Street in Manhattan’s West Village. It was built in 1926 as a 590-seat movie theater called the New Hudson, later known as Hudson Playhouse. The interior is largely unchanged to this day.

In the early 1950s, the site was converted to an off-Broadway theater as Theatre de Lys, opening on June 9, 1953, with a production of Maya, a play by Simon Gantillon starring Kay Medford, Vivian Matalon, and Susan Strasberg.

Highly Recommended! - This was a great way to spend the morning with an old friend. We had plenty of visiting time while searching for the next stop. We learned a lot as we were getting some good exercise too! Highly recommended!

Convenient and informative tour - I loved learning all these many details about some of my favourite musicians and, literally, following their steps in the city. It’s self-guided and you can stop anytime to grab a bite, which is quite convenient actually.
