  • Castle Clinton National Monument - At Castle Clinton, we’ll learn the history of the fort (built for the War of 1812) and it’s role as an immigration hub in NYC from 1855-1890. Today, this is where tickets are sold for Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.
  • National Museum of the American Indian - This glorious structure was built as a Customs House, but was also the site of the first fort built to defend the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam.
  • New York Stock Exchange - We’ll see the epicenter of the American financial system, as well as the Fearless Girl statue that boldly confronts the giant structure.
  • Federal Hall - The site where George Washington was inaugurated as the first President of the United States, where the Bill of Rights was ratified, and where the first Congress sat.
  • The National 9/11 Memorial & Museum - A visit to Lower Manhattan has to include a stop at the 911 Memorial.
  • Trinity Church - Here we’ll see the newly restored neogothic church that played a critical roll in American history as well as the cemetery in the courtyard to see Alexander Hamilton’s grave.

The region, now known as New York, was initially home to the Lenape Native Americans when the Dutch first settled down here. At the end of the Dutch era, it became one of the most varied places worldwide. This tour investigates the origins of the diverse groups that significantly influenced the evolution of New York City, including indigenous tribes, various religious groups like Christians, Jews, Muslims, diverse nationalities like the Irish, Italians, English, Africans, various professionals from businesses, real estate agents, artists to street vendors, and a collection of independent minds and visionaries.

Noteworthy sights include the New York harbor, memorials dedicated to the early settlers who shaped the city, Wall Street featuring Federal Hall and the Stock Exchange, the final resting place of Alexander Hamilton at Trinity Church, and Manhattan’s oldest extant structure, Fraunces Tavern.
