Gospel music and Harlem history - Ludie was an excellent storyteller talking about the history of Harlem and early New York history. We really enjoyed her approach of singing and her explanation of gospel music. I would recommend this tour to anyone who would like to learn more about the history of Harlem and gospel singing. It was a very informative tour.

Harlem facts - The church was the 5th largest in the world. Grant is buried by Columbia University and PT Barnum had a country home in Harlem. Duane was bilingual and did a great job with French and English passengers.

Fabulous Tour of Harlem - Very interesting tour of a part of the City that's off beat, but well worth visiting. Harlem has a lot of history and the Gospel part is a unique flavor of the area.

Interesting - Dwayne was great. His ability to go from French to English was impressive. Shared lots of information. But I wish I knew before the tour that it was bilingual. It was a bit distracting, the constant switching of languages, and I would have preferred an all English tour. More time at the gospel service would have been appreciated. Did not get to hear any other preaching from the deacons or bishop. Loved all the sites along the way, especially the opportunity to see the Apollo theater.

Our Quide was totally... - Our Quide was totally great but the experience in church was so short that we did not feel Harlem soul so much. But actually I generally recommend this tour.

Find a tour that only does the church - The actual church part was great. The bus tour with limited views was boring and went way too long. Better to spend more time at the church than pay a fortune for the padding either side of the church visit. When we did stop to look at a site it was drop dead boring.

Gospel tour - The experience did not deliver as advertised, with the Gospel tour. It lacked the choir atmosphere….

Big disappointment - Apart from the guide, who was very good and competent, the Mass and the songs were a real disappointment: terrible acoustics, the voices were drowned out by the instruments, drums and pianola, the audience was only paying tourists, not even the shadow of a real faithful , the gospel choir of a few elements in ordinary clothes, no involvement. Too bad, I was expecting something much more spiritual and I was totally disappointed, very commercial.
