Additional Information

Greenwich Village has historically been a hub for grassroots activism and societal transformation, so it’s fitting that our food tour shines a spotlight on some of the top small-scale enterprises run by women, immigrants, and individuals of diverse racial backgrounds.

As we make our way through the tour, we’ll explore the intriguing past and culture of Greenwich Village, from its origins as a center of bohemia in the early 1900s to its standing as a refuge for activists and their causes. And of course, we won’t miss out on tasting some scrumptious food!

We only visit locales owned by women and minority communities on this tour. By patronizing these businesses, you are not only contributing positively to the local economy, but also championing diversity and inclusivity in the culinary sector, all while having an enjoyable gastronomical and cultural experience in a legendary neighborhood.

Had so much fun🤍 - I went on a food tour with likealocaltours !! Explore the city through a 3-hour food tour with a New Yorker guide and a small group of 10 people or fewer. We went to 4 different food spots and I really enjoyed it 🤍🤍🤍

Greenwich Village Food Tour - Eat Like a Local! - As a native New Yorker, I am very used to playing tour guide, so I was skeptical when invited to attend the Greenwich Village Food Tour. It was AMAZING! We started out in the historic Washington Square Park. Our guide, Lara, shared so much history about the Park that I didn’t know and we visited truly authentic and delicious female and immigrant owned eateries. We had a truly local experience and I will take my family and friends when they are in town!

Discover the Flavors and Culture of New York's Picturesque West Village Neighborhood - This was truly an exceptional NYC experience! My wife and I took the tour with our infant, and it turned out to be the perfect outing for us. The guide was well-informed, and the food we sampled was both varied and utterly delectable. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone who wishes to explore one of New York's most enchanting neighborhoods, rich in cultural and historical significance, largely shaped by the immigrants and minorities whose distinct flavors are evident in each of the distinctive stops on this culinary journey. Suitable for all ages!

Very Tasty and Informative Food Tour!!! - I had a wonderful time on my Greenwich Village food tour, and it was one of the best experiences I have had visiting that neighborhood! Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the culture and history of the city, and took us to some hidden gems for some delicious food stops that I would have never found on my own. We tried a variety of dishes, from locally owned and operated establishments by women, immigrants, and people of color. I particularly enjoyed the pork bun at Munchiez, which was very flavorful! The tour was well-organized and paced perfectly, with just the right amount of walking and eating. We had the chance to see several important historical sites, including the Stonewall National Monument, and learned about the events and people that shaped the city's LGBT history. I was particularly impressed by the guide's ability to connect the historical events to the modern-day city and its culture. I highly recommend this tour and Like A Local Tours for anyone interested in trying out amazing NYC food dishes and learning more about the iconic neighborhood of Greenwich Village!
