Excellent Gilded Age tour! - Like many, I love the HBO Max series Gilded Age. When I saw this walking tour was available, I jumped on it! There were about 30 of us there, and we were divided into two groups. Richard was the guide for my group. Each of us was given an ear piece to use, so that we could hear Richard very clearly. Richard absolutely knew his stuff! He started the tour with information about the Gilded Age series, so that was a thrill. His knowledge of history and architecture was both thorough and accessible...which is not always the case. The tour was an easy walk, but we covered significant ground. Several times, we were able to pop inside a building - such as the Ralph Lauren flagship men's store - to see examples of Gilded Age interior finishings. After two hours, which went like a flash, my brain felt full of fascinating information. Thank you, Richard, for a splendid tour. I can't wait to take another Untapped New York tour!

Friendly, easy to follow and learned quite a bit - I liked the small group size which made it easier to navigate as a group through the streets of NYC. Our guide Alexis was great! She gave us the history in a story which was more captivating. She knew her stuff when we asked questions too! Overall, I liked the tour. I will add that many of the mansions no longer exist on 5th avenue but the few that do for a large territory, you will get to know more about.

wonderful Walking Tour - Richard was an excellent & knowledgeable guide of the Gilded Age history in the 5th Avenue area of Manhattan. He provided a detailed account of life as it was and provided interesting commentary on the socialites of the time & their beautiful architecturally designed homes.

David was a great tour... - David was a great tour guide, bringing to life the gilded age with stories and scandals. Also was able to show restored interiors of some mansions!

A great tour! - Alexis was such a fun tour guide! It was a cold day and she kept finding sun for us, and kept us moving. Her knowledge and sense of humor made for an informative and fun afternoon. The mansions are stunning, even the ones covered in scaffolding. Definitely a great tour for a nice day!

Fifth Ave - I lived in New Jersey and spent a lot of time walking Fifth Avenue as a young person and now as a visitor the same. Now I know what I was walking past. Richard was an amazing story teller and engaging guide. Thank you!

Guilded Age Characters - Our guide was enthusiastic and told us information we never could have learned on our own. It was a great introduction to the real people who are portrayed in the TV show.

Stroll Up 5th Avenue with the Vanderbilts, Astors and Sloanes - Richard guided us on a true walking tour. We stopped briefly to get a better view of particular buildings and/or to view some of his marvelous photos of now demolished or inaccessible buildings. Then we moved on to view some more. He sprinkled history of certain families into his narrative. So, this tour would be suitable for mixed audiences with some discussion of architectural styles and some peaks inside a few remaining neighborhood gems. A lovely walk up 5th Avenue from "The Plaza" to "The Met".
