Excellent guide - Richard was a knwledgeable and very engaging guide who brought the gilded age to life. Despite the very cold weather, the tour was fascinating, and we learned so much about mansions that were gone and a few still in existence. The guide's iPad had many photos and maps that illuminated his explanations.

Mansions - The tour was excellent. Alexis knew her facts and the history of the mansions was pretty amazing. In spite of the street closures we managed to walk around and find the sev=crets that lay between the modern buildings.

An enjoyable and educational tour - The tour, which lasted two hours, began at the Plaza and ended 15 blocks north near the Frick museum. During our walk we learned much about the Astors, Vanderbilts, and other families who owned mansions along fifth avenue. We heard interesting and often humorous stories about the intense and often petty social competition between families. We learned about two of the architects, Richard Hunt and Stanford White, who built many of the homes. Our tour guide, Bob G. was knowledgeable and friendly and answered all our questions. He really made the tour. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and we highly recommend it.
