Highlights

New York City’s Central Park is a designated National Historic Landmark and claims the title of most-visited urban park in the United States. This sprawling green oasis in the middle of the city’s urban bustle covers 843-acres (341-hectares) traversed by numerous paved paths, making it a perfect destination to explore by bike. Due to the Central Park’s popularity, bike rentals often sell out during peak season, so pre-book your rental to ensure there will be a bike waiting for you. Pick up your bike, helmet, lock, and carrying basket at the rental shop just blocks away from the park. Choose from a selection of hybrid, comfort, mountain, and children’s bikes to suit your group’s size and style. Rent a bike for just an hour or up to 2 days, depending on your schedule. With the help of a free park map and the recommendations of rental staff, set off to explore more than 47-miles (75-kilometers) of bike-friendly paths that wind through open meadows, lakes, bridges, gardens, and memorials. See famous attractions such as the Conservatory Garden, Belvedere Castle, the Central Park Zoo, the Imagine Mosaic, and the Central Park Carousel. Enjoy the flexibility of touring on two wheels, and stop to admire the scenery or take a rest as often as you like.

Central Park Tour - Cannot recommend the 2hr Central Park tour highly enough! Awesome way to see the park and its main highlights. Our tour guide Dan was absolutely phenomenal.

Great introduction to Central Park - I recently did a bike tour of Central Park with Chuck & it was a highlight of my first visit to NYC. Being a local, Chuck could share stories about the Park and surrounding areas. He kept the group together & travelled at a comfortable pace for all.

Lovely way to see the park - We hired bikes as part of our New York pass and took them round Central Park. The bikes were in good working order and the office isn’t far from the park. You get a helmet and a lock but no map despite what the NY pass website says. You can keep the bikes all day too. You have to leave a credit card authorisation and a piece of ID which you get back when you return the bikes, they take $1 which is non refundable. I would recommend cycling round the park, there’s a cycle path with fast and slow lanes and no cars. The down hills are very enjoyable!,

Excellent bike tour - We used Unlimited Biking twice while in New York. First we went on a great tour with Chuck on the Brooklyn Bridge tour. Went across the Manhattan Bridge to Brooklyn and then back over the Brooklyn Bridge. Chuck was very knowledgeable about the history of the areas we visited. The pace was geared to the group and we felt safe the whole time. Second we took the bike rentals by Central Park and went for a couple of hours on our own around Central Park. Beautiful way to see Central Park. The bikes at both locations were in very good condition.

Fabulous Way to See NYC! - We initially thought we’d rent bikes just to ride around Central Park, and ended up keeping them all day. Good customer service, easy in and out. Bikes and tag a long were in great shape for rentals, like new. Absolutely beautiful to ride all over Central Park, getting off here and there to walk some spots and playgrounds. It’s a bike-friendly city, so we rode all the way down on the water to Chelsea Market and the High Line. We locked our bikes and went on foot there for several hours, and came back to find out unlocked tag a long still attached. Made the day!

Great experience which you can do at your own pace - We initially intended to join the 10am daily guided tour. We got there at 9h50 but due to exceptionally long queues www weren’t able to join and opted for the self-guided tour instead. The app costs $10 dollars to download. There is a one way circular 6.5 mile lane going around Central Park. You can stop along the way and meander down the paths on foot only whilst pushing the bicycle. Too: for the guided tour, try and get there at least 30 ‘i items before the time. For self guided, the full circular tour is very long and can be on boring. Rather choose which sites your like to see and visits those only instead of doing the entire route. Most of the best photo ops are close to the main entrance and the zoo. So you don’t really need to venture out very far into the park.

Perfunctory Handover - Good bicycles with helmets and safety chains, but a perfunctory handover - basically, "here’s the bicycle, off you go”. If you're not familiar with the gears and brakes (like us), figuring them out on the go on the streets of New York leading into Central Park and in Central Park is a potentially a little risky.

Crappy bikes, nice people - A woman, two men riding a bicycle through Central Park. $22/ bike Crappy bikes without fenders, so if it rains or you ride through junk you have problems. Fortunately, it was a sunny day. One's chain kept jamming Of the other two, the gears falters. One had a narrow racing saddle for people 55 and older. We asked for a bicycle basket, was refused for unclear reason.
