On the High Line by Little Island Park - I greatly enjoy how modern art museums have places where you can sit and relax. The Whitney Museum is on the High Line by Little Island Park.

Human Scale Museum With Great Art - Amazing Amy Sherald "American Sublime" exhibit. Must see show at one of my favorite museums in NYC. A fantastic retrospective of 42 painting. And before our after the show lunch at Frenchette Bakery is delightful.

Whitney; A Rain or Shine museum in NYC - I've been a regular visitor at the Whitney Museum. Personally, it's the perfect place to spend the day, rain or shine. I can tell that It’s a must-visit in NYC, especially if you enjoy modern American art. The building is spacious, and contemporary, with thoughtfully curated exhibitions and stunning city views from the outdoor terraces. Even just grabbing a drink at the terrace café while taking in the skyline and the HighLine makes the trip worthwhile. The collection includes major names like Hopper and Basquiat, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but absolutely worth it for the overall experience.

Amy Sherald ‘American Sublime’ exhibit a must see! - Amy Sherald’s “American Sublime” paintings are at the Whitney Museum. This artist takes a photograph first and then paints a picture. Some of her paintings are her interpretation of famous paintings from artists like Edward Hopper or photographs like the famous kiss in Times Square on V-J Day, 1945 by Alfred Eisenstaedt. Here Amy has recreated it with two men kissing. It’s both provocative and visually beautiful. Friday evenings from 5 pm to 10 pm and the second Sunday of the month are free to visit the museum. Reservations have to be made online. I made one for yesterday, Friday for 5:15 pm. As I was there early, I was told that I could wait in a room near the cafe. The noise of a whoosh sound was very loud and two large inflated moving red hands kept me occupied. I pitied the security guard who showed me his ear buds and said he went out to take a noise break. Then at 5 pm,I was able to go up to see the exhibit. I enjoyed all the paintings including the one of Breonna Taylor. This exhibit is on till August 10th.

Yeah. - Museum remains museum. Art is the art of selling as art. Okay the exhibition wasn't that bad, but I thought the house itself didn't bring what you expected.

Saturday at the Whitney - 4/5 stars simply because of the cost of admission. NYC residents should be pay as you wish. No lines for entry or restrooms, yay. Restrooms were clean despite the museum being crowded. Tours were available, which make exhibits accessible to patrons. However, some tours are so large it’s difficult to hear. If I were an out of towner: I would go for the views of nyc. I would go because you can go to the Whitney, walk the Highline and ( if it’s warm weather) also visit Little Island. Both Highline & Little Island are free so it’s worth it. Three interesting NYC check out spots in one NYC day. It’s def a bonus if the Whitney has an especially fascinating artist on exhibit, such as Amy Sherald (may 2025 exhibit) I’d say it’s worth a visit.

Good but some disappointing galleries - The Whitney Museum is an amazing building and they offer free entry on Friday evenings. Some of the work is not great and the line up to get a coffee in the bar is really really slow. Views from the balconies are great. Worth a visit.

Disappointed with the overall collection - As one of the main floors was closed due to a changing exhibition, there was only the Amy Sherald exhibition that was of interest. Check before you go that all floors will be open. No Hopper etc on show at all when we were there.
