- Chelsea - On this 2-hour tour, you’ll visit approximately seven of the most important contemporary art gallery shows of the moment, seeing and discussing artwork in variety of media. Exhibitions change every five to six weeks, so there is always something new to see. Your itinerary will include a range of mega-galleries and smaller space showing artwork by nationally and internationally acclaimed artists.

Additional Information
A local art critic, writer, and college instructor are your certified tour guide. She has designed and conducted tours in New York’s galleries and museums for more than fifteen years and will guide you to the most current prominent exhibitions. Within our intimate group, there is the open invitation for you to raise questions and share your thoughts while your guide offers context on the top showcases in New York City!
- Tours take place rain or shine and meet in a different gallery for each tour. A message with the meeting location will be sent prior to the tour.
- Your tour guide is licensed by New York City’s Department of Consumer Affairs as a tour guide and is a member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA USA).
- Some galleries have stairs. Please let us know in advance if you need to avoid stairs so we can make sure the itinerary is accessible.
- Travelers should be able to stand and walk for two hours. Seating is usually not available.

Very Enjoyable Contemporary Art Tour - Our guide was Merrily and she provided really interesting background to the artists whose work we viewed. It was a really enjoyable tour, with discussion encouraged in a relaxed environment. Would definitely recommend.

The best way to experience New York's gallery scene - This was my third tour with Merrily in person. I have also enjoyed her virtual tours via Zoom. It is a wonderful way to view the best of the Chelsea galleries. Merrily provides context and background for the artists and exhibits, which adds so much to the experience. I can’t say enough good things about New York Art Tours!

Fabulous!!! - Art museum docents (Getty and Carnegie), we had high expectations; Merrily exceeded them. We especially appreciated her artist selections and thoughtful narrative.

Excellent overview of current art happenings - Merrily was well informed about the contemporary art scene. She answered questions knowledgeably and fully with a good grasp of the local art scene. The group was small and compatible.

Art in Tribeca - We enjoyed a wonderful two hours touring seven galleries in Tribeca. Merrily was a perfect guide providing information, interesting stories and pointing out architectural details along the way. I would definitely do this tour again.

A fascinating and memorable experience for our whole team - We had an incredible experience exploring Chelsea's contemporary art galleries with Merrily as our guide. As a mix of out-of-towners and NYC locals from our office, we were all equally enthralled. Merrily expertly navigated us through eight diverse exhibitions. Her commentary was insightful and engaging. The pace of the tour was perfect for our group and the variety of media and styles we saw was remarkable.
