- The Ramble - Central Park’s lush woodland, known as the Ramble, spans 38 acres of winding paths between 73rd and 78th streets. Frederick Law Olmsted described it as a “wild garden.” Its maze of trails, rich with flora and fauna, contrasts beautifully with nearby formal attractions like Bethesda Terrace. The Ramble is a popular spot for birdwatching, with around 230 species to observe. Visitors can also view the Gill, a man-made stream running through the area.
- Bow Bridge - “The Romantic Landmark” – Cross the Bow Bridge, Central Park’s most photographed and filmed cast-iron bridge, offering a breathtaking view of the city skyline against the park’s tranquil greenery. Its Victorian charm and scenic views make it perfect for romantic walks and leisurely strolls.
- Bethesda Fountain - Meet The Angel of the Water, truly the heart of the park.
- Bethesda Terrace - “The Heart of Central Park” – Discover Bethesda Terrace, a grand two-tiered structure featuring the iconic Angel of Waters statue at Bethesda Fountain. With its ornate carvings and stunning lake views, it provides a romantic and picturesque setting ideal for relaxation and photography.
- Central Park’s Literary Walk - “The Walkway of American Elms” – Walk through the straight, tree-lined path known as the Mall, famous for its Quadruple Row of American Elm trees. This promenade is a hub for artists, musicians, and performers, offering a vibrant cultural atmosphere that embodies New York’s diversity.
- Wollman Rink - NYC’s renowned ice skating rink, now also a pickleball hotspot.
- Gapstow Bridge - A historic bridge adjacent to The Pond, perfect for iconic photos.
- The Dairy Visitor Center and Gift Shop - The Dairy, a Victorian cottage designed by Calvert Vaux and built between 1869 and 1871, is central to the Children’s District. Originally, it provided fresh milk and snacks for children and their caregivers. Families enjoyed refreshments under the Dairy’s loggia (open-air porch) and cool breezes from the nearby pond. The expansive lawn in front of the Dairy was a play area for children.
The Dairy became Central Park’s first visitor center in 1979 and was among the first Conservancy restoration projects in the early 1980s. During this time, the building’s historic and colorful loggia, removed in the mid-20th century, was restored.
