Todd did a great job! - Todd did a great job! It was very interesting to learn the background on how plots are owned by families, some maintained into perpetuity, some “orphan” tombs are sold by descendants, etc.. Amazing insights into the yellow fever epidemic, the role of culture and religion in early days of the city, as well as population and demographics. Our group of 8 thoroughly enjoyed the tour!

Be ready for the restrictions... - So, first things first - this cemetery is a must see while in New Orleans if for no other reason than its historical value. However, we (my wife and I) only gave a 4-star for a couple of reasons. Our guide (I'm sorry I don't remember his name) seemed like he was rushing us. And secondly, we really disliked the fact that we were not allowed to do any self-exploration of the cemetery. We were limited to the few stops along the path that the guide showed us and nothing beyond. Plus after leaving a stopping point we had to move along leaving little time for photos without others being in the way. Now, we certainly understand the reasons for this (I've visited the cemetery prior to the 'guided tour only' restrictions) as vandalism and poor maintenance were an issue, but for 50 bucks it sure seems like we'd be given a little more leeway for our explorations. My wife and I are mature adults and would like to think we could get some sort of solution in between 'free reign' and 'you have to stay within 10 feet of your guide at all times'. I don't know what that solution looks like but it's a shame it doesn't exist.

Cool place but tour just ok. - It was just ok. Tour guide Bill was nice but forgetful and rambled a lot. It was hard to understand the key points he was trying to make about certain tombs.
