Great experience - The plantations were beautiful! We really enjoyed our tours, especially our guide at Laura Plantation. Very informative! Karen was a great guide with Cajun Encounters. We really enjoyed her stories and information while on the bus. We stood in front of Homewood Suites on Rampart Rd but the shuttle was parked in the back. Thankfully Karen came around and found us!

Worth your time and money! - I really enjoyed these plantation tours. The tour bus driver was very pleasant. The tour of the Laura plantation was excellent. The guide at the plantation was very detailed and provided a great deal of info. Oak Alley was beautiful but the tour was only of 4 rooms in the house and lasted less than an hour. It was fine for what it was. I’d recommend this tour instead of being confined to the French Quarter. It gives a very honest account of the history in the South.

Excellent experience - A wonderful thought provoking tour to Oak Alley and Laura Plantations. Our bus driver Michelle was a hoot and so genuinely kind. She gave us all kinds of information on the drive and she was fun! The guide at the Laura Plantation was named Renee and I can't say enough about her compassion and her sense of justice for the enslaved peoples she taught us about that day. I feel really grateful. Oak Alley was a quick stop where we got to admire a beautiful plantation big house and of course the incredible live oaks. There were ready made sandwiches to buy at Oak Alley but better to bring your own lunch. All in all a very memorable experience. I'm glad I went on this tour.

A must do for a NOLA trip - A very educational experience to visit the plantations. Rene the driver was a wealth of information. The tour guides for both plantations take time time answering questions

Gave us a nice overview of the city on the way to the Plantations. our tour guide, Renee, at the Laura Plantation was very knowledgeable and gave an excellent tour! Our tour guide at Oak Alley Plantation was okay. The oak Alley Plantation was beautiful though! Highly recommend the tour!

The buildings and the people received equal billing. - The guides had two different styles and emphasized different aspects of the two plantations. Lara: a fascinating focus on the families. Oak Alley: also fascinating, but focusing on the buildings, and their contents and the operation of the plantation. Each excellent in what and how they presented to the groups.

Good tour - To be perfectly clear about this tour. It is a bus ride to each of the plantations and admission to each one. The tours are provided by plantation staff. The plantations themselves were excellent. Laura Plantation is more of the slave side of things, Oak Alley was a guided tour of the plantation house and a perspective of the owners. They were both wonderful. The bus ride with tour operator was comfortable but lacking in any information as to the things you pass on the one hour ride. This was slightly disappointing, but not a deal breaker. Just think you should know and understand what to expect. It’s an all day tour. Wear very comfortable walking shoes. You can grab a lunch (and/or a cocktail) at the Oak Alley Plantation, otherwise pack a lunch.
