There you will taste mouthwatering local dishes, such as Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, and the Muffaletta sandwich. A praline for dessert is included! You will glide through our fabulous French Quarter, founded in 1718. You will admire historic St. Louis Cathedral, named after King Louis IX, who was truly a Saint. He led the seventh and eighth Crusades back in the 13th century. Across the way from the Cathedral is beautiful Jackson Square. If you are interested, the 1850 House on the Square has a nice selection of cookbooks and history books. Regarding the diverse architecture, there is no other place in the country like it. Top tour in New Orleans - If you do just one thing in New Orleans take this incredible tour with Naiff (and Gatson the alligator!) What an amazing afternoon we had tasting the most delicious food, learning about the origins of the dishes, a history lesson about NOLA and such interesting stories about Naiff’s life. I didn’t want the day to end! I could have listened to Naiff all day, wonderful story teller transporting you back to his childhood growing up by the Mississippi. The restaurants we visited were hand picked by him and his wife Sandy, every one was fabulous. Not the usual pre-pared mass produced meals you normally get on tours. We were struggling to fit the delicious food in by the fourth restaurant and took the yummy pralines home to eat when we finished at number five - Aunt Sally’s! They were so nice we went back to try different flavours before buying a few boxes for presents and for ourselves. We went back to two of the restaurants for meals during our stay and would have returned to all of them had we been there longer. I’m never going to cook again without thinking of the holy trinity. Thank you so much Naiff and Sandy for a wonderful afternoon, haven’t stopped telling everyone about it!
