A must do swamp tour - Two families with tween and teen boys did the kayak tour with our guide Zack. He was so enthusiastic and knowledgable. We all felt very safe and in good hands - especially since we saw roughly 10 alligators! I know it's not guaranteed that you will see any but they were very lively on our tour. Lots of other beautiful birds and scenery to view as well. Loved every minute of it. *Know that if you are meeting at the landing there is no restroom or structure there so luckily we were early enough to drive 5 miles back to a restroom before our trip began.

Highlight of my 3rd trip to NOLA! - Wow, I have so much more respect & compassion for those who lived in the swamps back then and those who currently fish there and take care of Louisiana's history! My boyfriend and I had an absolute blast and enjoyed our guide, Terry. Transportation to and from the swamp area was smooth and our entire group was good for the most part. We would totally do this again in a heartbeat. Suggestions for the Wild Louisiana Kayak: (1) Please find a way for everyone to be able to hear the information the guide gives. As much as Terry was knowledgeable and taking care of us, at times it was difficult to hear him. (2) I believe there should be some pre-requisites to going on this tour, especially to have prior kayaking experience (maybe at least 5-10 times) and/or is currently active (gym/running/ etc). There were some areas that were hard to get through with our kayak (and we're both physically active and kayaked before), so if someone is new they might not enjoy that very much. Moreover, there were two ladies in our group who were on the much larger side who slowed the tour down, hence the delay of going back to the city on time. They paired up, however I think incorrectly on the kayak so that delayed us further. *FYI the muscle should be in the back, while the person in front steers more. Terry did what he could to help these ladies. There were some other people in the group who slowed down purposely to help these ladies. I understand this experience is open to all, however I think it'd be a good idea to be mindful of other people during this tour too. Suggestions for those who plan on going: (1) Don't do any crazy workouts before. Rest, eat well, & hydrate (2) Bring water (3) Wear something comfy and protective from the sun, sunnies & a hat are a must (4) Be open to the water and everything surrounded by you and your kayak

Highly recommended! - We went as a family with grown-up children. It was a nice little kayaking trip (about 6 km), and we saw lots of wildlife, including many alligators, and fascinating scenery. We were in sit-on-top kayaks both single and double, very stable kayaks, but you will get wet so bring changing clothes. Our group included both beginners and experienced kayakers, all enjoyed it. The guide was very knowledgeable.

Great tour! Would recommend! - The tour guide, Josh, was knowledgable and entertaining. Not only was he a great tour guide, but included information about the area and the Louisiana wetlands. The tour was great. We had great weather and were able to see the area and some wildlife.

Beauty and a Beast! - Highly recommended! During the 3+ hour tour, guide Terry shared his extensive knowledge about the local flora and fauna with the ten people in the group. There were four of us in single kayaks, six in doubles, and we gathered every 20 minutes or so on the 90 minute outbound trip to take in the beauty of early spring in the cypress swamp. Even though it was a little overcast and chilly, with Terry’s sharp eye, we did see a gator! Be aware that there are NO restrooms at the Launch! Parking is along the wide shoulder of a 2-lane road.

Beautiful tour - The kayak tour was a beautiful way to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city for a while. Although we were still able to catch glimpses of multiple animals we would recommend coming a little later into spring to see the fully bloomed floral landscape. Our guide Josh was lively, did well participating with every member of the group and knew his history well.

Excellent nature activity - Our kayak swamp adventure was wonderful and a favorite activity for the entire family. Josh was an excellent guide who was full of information about all the plants, trees and animals in the area. He was also helpful for those who hadn't been kayaking before. January was not the best time to see alligators or the beautiful leafed out trees so we hope to do this tour again during a warmer part of the year.

Good trip, but wish I had more info - I love kayaking at home, so I really wanted to kayak on vacation. My husband and I went in double, sit-on-top kayaks with our preteen and teen children. Good points: We saw lots of alligators and some other wildlife (birds, a turtle), excellent scenery, very good weather Negatives: There are absolutely no facilities at the launch. No bathrooms, store, etc. It was difficult to paddle through the launch because of an invasive species of plant. Also, the "two-hour" tour was actually three hours. That would have been good to know from the start. Overall, it was a good experience, but I wish I would have known more about the time frame and lack of facilities.
