Acadiana Culinary Experience and Tabasco - We did a food experience - Acadiana Culinary Experience which was absolutely awesome. Mr. George was a great guide and walked us through not only the history of Tabasco and their sauces but also the local culture. We sampled five local dishes and three bloody mary varieties. Overall this was well worth the money and time! I highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting!

Worth the drive to Avery Island from New Orleans - It was worth renting a car and taking a day trip to Avery Island from New Orleans. We loved the factory tour and the jungle gardens. They give you mini tabasco bottles when you check in. The staff is super nice. We learned so much and have been eating a lot of Tabasco sauce since our visit. We had hoped to walk around in the Jungle Gardens but the mosquitoes were terrible. The drive through option was enjoyable though. We even saw a few alligators.

A must visit - We toured the Tabasco Factory and Jungle Gardens on a Sunday.. Our GPS took us on an adventurous route but upon arrival we were greeted at the gate and directed to plentiful parking. Every step offered another discovery. The next visit will be on a weekday, so the factory is active and in the spring when the gardens will be phenomenall.

Hot sauce fan - Very unique and fun tour of the history and complete process of making Tabasco. Easy to follow self tour that is unrushed. At the end of the tour there is a taste test that is a can not miss. Highly recommend this if you are a hot sauce fan.

I think a weekday - when the factory is running - would be better - We went here on a weekend, and the factory wasn't running, but you could get a good idea about it anyway. The museum and factory were both interesting and very well done. The Jungle Tour was a bit hard to follow which way to go, but was beautiful and we did manage to see a small alligator there.

Better bring a credit card - We have been here several times over the years since we live locally. The Gardens were nice, both gift shops had a large selection of items, staff was friendly, and the self guided tour was good. It was a Sunday, so the factory was closed (nice that the workers get a day off). The down side, Jungle Gardens used to be the only fee (along with the toll road which is now free). There is now a fee for the self guided tour. I get it, these things costs, but I think that they are doing well financially. The worst part of the outing is that they don’t accept cash, for anything. I was very disappointed about that.

Learn about history of Tobasco and area. See how the sauce is made. Great samples and cute items in the store. - This was a nice stop to break up our drive to New Orleans. It was fun to learn how Tabasco is made and about the history of the founding family and island. The self guided tour is a great idea, but didn’t work as well as we would have liked. The signage and app didn’t match up, but it wasn’t too hard to follow. Our app stopped a few times in the middle of a talk, and it wasn’t easy to get it to continue. We loved the store and the samples. The jalapeño ice cream was surprisingly good. We didn’t try the restaurant, but it looked fun.

Make sure to sample at the "Tasting bar". - Enjoyed the self guided tour, feel the cost is a little high at $15 per person consider most people likely spend in the store or restaurant. You can spend as much time reading and listening to the videos as you like. Amazing all Tabasco is made only here and shipped from this location. The tasting bar at the back of the store was a highlight, they offer samples of the hot sauces, ice cream and chili. The ladies handing out the samples were friendly and helpful. Sampling let us make sure we were buying flavours that appeased our palate. The drive through Avery Island was beautiful and we were able to see some egrets and alligators. The Buddha stop was the highlight. We did this on a day trip from the French Quarter, it was a long day and recommend spending a night in the area if you can afford the time.

Very Un-American company and very shameful !!! - Avery island no longer accepts American cash to tour their factory, buy things in their gift shop or eat in their restaurants. I do not buy things on credit when i have cash in my hands. I boycott any and all companies in America that do not accept American cash. Guessing avery island belongs to foreigners now that they don't accept cash. I don't like the idea that they have my credit card information with so many companies getting hacked. I promise that i will never return to Avery Island and will never buy another tabasco product. So very Un-American and very shameful !!! They lost all of my business and i will be sure to not recommend it anymore to house guest.
