Haridwar, a historical city and a significant Hindu pilgrimage spot in North India’s Uttarakhand, is known for being the place where the Ganges River descends from the Himalayan foothills. Amongst many religious ghats (steps for bathing), Har Ki Pauri is notable for conducting a daily Ganga Aarti ritual (river-worshipping ceremony), whereby miniature lamps are set afloat from the steps. The city sees a surge in pilgrims during key festivals such as the yearly Kanwar Mela.
Enjoy a customizable and comprehensive private tour of Haridwar and Rishikesh, lasting between 15-18 hours. Your tour can include visits to places like Har Ki Pauri, Sivananda Ashram, Gita Bhawan, Lakshman Jhula Bridge, Swarg Ashram, Ram Jhula, Bara Bazaar and an exhilarating boat ride in Rishikesh. Great Guide and Driver in Haridwar & Rishikesh - We had a wonderful tour of Haridwar and Rishikesh and can’t recommend it highly enough.
Our driver was fantastic — incredibly friendly, professional, and thoughtful throughout the day. He shared a lot of history while driving, checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed, and was always happy to stop whenever we asked. He even recommended a great restaurant along the way. Despite starting very early in the morning and finishing late at night — and dealing with some less-than-ideal weather — he maintained a consistently positive attitude that really set the tone for the day.
Our tour guide was equally excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable and made sure we were able to see everything we hoped to see. He shared fascinating background on the region, especially its importance in Hinduism, which added so much depth and meaning to the experience. His explanations were clear, engaging, and never rushed.
Overall, this was a smooth, well-organized, and enriching experience with a team that truly cared about making the day special. We’re very glad we chose this tour and would absolutely recommend it to others.

An excellent walk to savor Rishikesh and Haridwar - Excellent attention from Mr. Sharma the driver and Chandresh the guide. Very dedicated. Getting to these places takes at least 4 hours so I recommend starting as early. There's a lot to see and the day goes fast. If there is time it is advisable to spend 2 days

A Truly Spiritual and Uplifting Experience in Rishikesh & Haridwar - Our trip to Rishikesh and Haridwar was absolutely brilliant—one of the most spiritual and memorable experiences of my life. From start to finish, our tour guide, Chandresh, was exceptional, providing deep insights into every site we visited, making the journey even more meaningful.
One of the most special moments was participating in the Ganga Aarti, a mesmerizing and sacred ceremony on the banks of the Ganges. Watching the lamps float down the river while hearing the rhythmic chants was truly magical. We also had the opportunity to take a dip in the holy river, which was both refreshing and deeply symbolic.
If you’re considering visiting Rishikesh and Haridwar, I cannot recommend it enough. It’s a must-do for anyone seeking a meaningful and transformative experience.

1 night winter stay - Travelers from USA - My wife and I traveled from USA to Haridwar in January and had an excellent one night stay at the Sarovar Portico. The hotel is impeccably maintained, with an impressive, tasteful decor and delicious buffet breakfast. The room was reasonably priced, heated/climate controlled and I recommend taking the breakfast. I recommend it.

Be prepared for a lot of driving - The driver was excellent. It took us 4-5 hours to get there. We picked up the tour guide and walked around a little and had lunch. The tour guide seemed to lecture us vs giving us a tour. The ceremony was the most interesting part. After it was over, we drove 4 hours home. It was a very long day, not sure what we saw justified 9 hours in the car.
