Kothari’s Patwon Ki Haveli - The Patwon Ji ki Haveli is a significant architectural piece and the most important haveli in Jaisalmer. It was the first haveli built in Jaisalmer and consists of a cluster of five small havelis. Commissioned by Guman Chand Patwa in 1805, it is the largest and most elaborate. The havelis are known as the ‘mansion of brocade merchants’ due to the family’s trade in gold and silver threads. Despite government use, the haveli retains its paintings and mirror work. The main gateway is distinctively brown, contrasting with the yellow sandstone.
