“May his city be the abode of nomads or remain in wilderness.” These words, spoken by the revered Sufi saint Nizamuddin as a curse upon Emperor Ghiyas-ud-din’s city, seem to still resonate throughout the eerie ruins of Tughlaqabad. It would have saddened the old sultan to see how quickly the saint’s curse took effect, shortly after his passing.
- Jamali Kamali Tomb and Mosque - The journey continues to the “Jamali Kamali” mosque complex, nestled deep within the mysterious forests of South Delhi. Reports of strange lights, the puzzling growling of dogs chasing unseen entities, apparitions, and other faint, peculiar sounds are frequently noted.
- Feroz Shah Kotla - The next destination is Feroz Shah Kotla, an ancient fortress from the 14th century. Locals speak of the numerous invisible djinns, or fire spirits, that inhabit this site. Every Thursday, locals faithfully light incense sticks for the djinns residing here, leave offerings such as milk and grain, and write letters to them. The fortress, now in ruins, is extremely isolated and appears abandoned, enhancing its haunted image. Finally, guests will be transported back to their hotel, airport, or railway station in Delhi.
