• Chandni Chowk - Chandni Chowk, the main thoroughfare of Old Delhi, starkly contrasts with the broad, orderly streets of New Delhi. Here, cars, cycle rickshaws, hand-pulled carts, pedestrians, and animals all vie for space. It’s chaotic, crumbling, and congested, yet utterly captivating. As one of India’s oldest and busiest markets, its narrow, winding lanes are brimming with affordable jewelry, fabrics, and electronics. For the adventurous, Chandni Chowk is an excellent spot to sample Delhi’s street food.
• Humayun’s Tomb - Humayun’s Tomb, reminiscent of the Taj Mahal in Agra, served as the inspiration for its creation. Built in 1570, it houses the remains of the second Mughal emperor, Humayun. This tomb was the first of its kind in India, sparking a prolific era of Mughal architecture across the country. The tomb is part of a larger complex set amidst stunning gardens.
• Qutub Minar - Qutub Minar, the world’s tallest brick minaret, is a remarkable example of early Indo-Islamic architecture. Constructed in 1206, its purpose remains a mystery. • Lotus Temple - The Bahai Temple, often called the Lotus Temple due to its lotus flower shape, is especially beautiful at night when illuminated. Made of white marble, the temple belongs to the Bahai Faith, which advocates for the unity of all people and religions. Everyone is welcome to worship here. The serene gardens and ponds surrounding the temple provide a perfect setting for a relaxing picnic.
