Very interesting - Very interesting visit. I love history and discovering the evolution of New York City thrilled me. There are many historical artefacts but also many interactive experiences done very well. I absolutely recommend it. Entrance is free, but they gladly accept donations.

Went to see the film retrospect of "The Last Days of Disco" - What I like about the Museum of the City of New York on top of the interesting exhibitions that they mount is the film series retrospect's that they hold. I got to see Walt Stillman's "The Last Days of Disco" and got to see the film and meet the director. It was interesting evening in that we got to hear the director and writers perspective on a film that I have seen at least 35 times since its release in 1998. I like that the museum brings the people who make the films to get their take on the work they did on a film 30 years ago. Its like being in a time capsule. I had been to these before when the founders of the "Talking Heads" did their retrospect on "Stop Making Sense". It is fun to watch the film and get the opinions of the people who helped create them and there perspective on it.

100 Years of the MCNY - I enjoyed the Ginger Bread Exhibit and the history of NYC. The Exhibits are put together well. The museum also had an interesting exhibit about Pureto Rican Art by a man named Vega.

Pleasantly surprised! - They had a loayet of nice looking activities for the kids too. Was not sure what to expect but it was a very nice museum--stayed about 4-5 hours (with a snack--go early they run out) but was easy to get to from the 3 Line. Lots of interesting insights --very proud of a very diverse, economically and racially. Was fun and would definitely recommend!

Wonderful New York experience! - A wonderful visual and learning experience. We are native New Yorkers and we still learned so much about the history of New York from the 1600s to the present day. Would recommend it to anyone. We enjoyed the films and all the exhibits.

Nice - It was good opportunity to see this place. Many activities can be achieved. How this city developed all over the years and how it celebrated diversity are shown here through photographs and collectibles displayed. Good coffee there.

Outstanding video displays - The video of the history of New York on the ground floor was fantastic and I would highly recommend. On the top floor there is also an incredible video room about NYC and film, also highly recommend this and watching it all the way through. The rest of the museum is ok with some exhibits being quite good with good interpretation, but others lacking in terms of coherence and clear interpretation. Not a big museum so easy to do in 2 hours or so.

Excellent History of New York Mueseum - Excellent History of New York Mueseum . We went here for the Uptown Bounce which was a free event with Grandmaster Caz on a Thursday. Our free ticket enabled us to look around the Museum before the event started at 6 pm. We really enjoyed looking around at the history of New York since the 1600s. I particularly liked the section they had on Hip Hop, the graffiti, breakdancing and the music. We very much enjoyed the free music event also.

A not very recognized museum but pleasant and interesting. - Visit the museum alone. It was not part of the "must visit" program of the city of NY. The truth is that I liked it. I'm a film critic and they kindly let me in. Then I toured the rooms dedicated to the history of the city and I found them interactive and with good information cataloged by different stages of the city's history. I liked the one dedicated to Roosevelt and his impact on the constitution of the city's culture. There is also a video projected on a giant screen and a volunteer guide who gives a tour with excellent explanations. I left very satisfied and happy to visit those somewhat hidden tourist sites in the city.
