The Journey Begins: A Scenic Ride to Negril

The day started with a scenic bus ride along Jamaica’s North Coast, a journey that was as much a part of the adventure as the destination itself. Our driver, Kenny, was a character in his own right, full of stories and laughter that made the 2.5-hour drive from Falmouth feel like a breeze. As a former professional surfer, I’ve spent countless hours on the road chasing waves, but this ride was something special. Kenny’s infectious energy set the tone for the day, and by the time we arrived at Margaritaville, I felt like I was already on island time.

Margaritaville Negril greeted us with its iconic 7 Mile Beach, a stretch of sand that seemed to go on forever. The sun was shining, the water was inviting, and the vibe was pure relaxation. The crew was fantastic, joking and laughing with us, and even managed to convince my partner to try snorkeling – something he swore he’d never do! The underwater world was teeming with colorful fish and corals, a vibrant display of nature’s beauty that never ceases to amaze me.

Our final stop was the legendary Rick’s Cafe, perched on the cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Known for its breathtaking sunsets and daring cliff divers, Rick’s did not disappoint. We watched in awe as brave souls leapt from the cliffs into the turquoise waters below, their silhouettes framed by the setting sun.

The atmosphere at Rick’s was electric, with a live DJ spinning tunes and a crowd of people soaking up the good vibes. We explored the gift shop, took a dip in the pool, and enjoyed some delicious local fare. As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the experience.

As we sailed back to Margaritaville, the sky darkening around us, I couldn’t help but reflect on the day’s adventures.
