DAKAR – GOREE ISLAND – DAKAR
Goree Island - In the morning, take a 20-minute ferry ride to Gorée Island. The tour includes a visit to the ethnographic museum and a lecture by the curator on the history of Gorée, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon, return to Dakar for a city tour. Visit the vibrant markets, including Tilen Market, known for its variety of medicinal herbs and traditional healers. Stop by Dakar’s grand Mosque, the Presidential Palace, and the Artisans Market. Meals included: Breakfast. Overnight at Hotel Ndiambour.
DAKAR – PINK LAKE – ST LOUIS
Dakar - After breakfast, depart for Saint Louis, located in northern Senegal. On the way, tour Pink Lake, a rare natural phenomenon caused by a unique combination of microorganisms and high salt concentration, giving the lake its pink hue. Interact with the women harvesting salt. Visit the Fulani village, where guests may be welcomed by the Chief. Continue to Saint Louis, Senegal’s former colonial capital. In the early evening, enjoy a city tour of Saint Louis, exploring the narrow streets lined with houses featuring carved wooden balconies and verandas, and visit the lively fishing village of Guet Ndar. Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner. Overnight at Mermoz.
SAINT LOUIS – DJOUDJ – SAINT LOUIS
Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary - After breakfast, visit the Djoudj National Bird Park (a UNESCO World Heritage site), one of the world’s most important bird sanctuaries. Located on a major palearctic migratory route, this park is a haven for bird enthusiasts. Some of the world’s largest concentrations of white pelicans and flamingos can be seen here, with up to 10,000 species. Enjoy a pirogue ride to better view the many species of cormorants, pelicans, ducks, flamingos, various songbirds, and more. Guests may also spot crocodiles, boas, boars, and other wildlife. Complete the city tour of Saint Louis. Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner. Overnight at Mermoz.
SAINT LOUIS – TOUBA – DELTA DU SALOUM
Touba - After breakfast, drive to Sine Saloum, located in a beautiful natural setting. Stop along the way to visit Touba, the holy city of the Mouride brotherhood. Arrive in Ndagane and enjoy a cruise through the mangroves. Check into the hotel for an overnight stay. Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner. Overnight at Hotel Les Cordons Bleus.
DELTA SALOUM – JOAL FADIOUTH – MBOUR – SALY
Joal Fadiouth - After breakfast, depart for Joal Fadiouth, visiting the central market of Mbour en route. Continue to Joal, known as the birthplace of Senegal’s first President, Leopold Senghor. Visit the fish market and observe the lively daily activities. Visit the Senghor museum. Continue to the traditional Serere village of Fadiouth, where guests can see the cathedral, the marketplace, the sacred Baobab tree, and the famous cemetery where Muslims, Christians, and Animists are buried. Continue to Saly beach resort with stops at small villages. Arrive in time to enjoy the beach before nightfall. Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner. Overnight at Royam Saly.
SALY – BANDIA – SALY
Saly - In the morning, travel to Bandia National Park for a safari. Bandia Game Reserve is located in a 3,500-hectare conservation area. Here, guests will see numerous species native to Senegal, including buffalos, antelopes, impala gazelles, monkeys, tortoises, and crocodiles, in addition to white rhinoceros, kudu, elands, cape moose, giraffes, ostriches, and zebras. Stop by the crocodile pool where animals come to drink and buffalos wallow in the mud. Numerous bird species can be seen, including small hornbills, grey herons, eagles, blackbirds, and kingfishers. The Bandia wildlife reserve has successfully reintroduced much of the marvelous native flora and fauna unique to West Africa, which had gradually disappeared due to demographic pressure and poaching. Return to Saly Beach Resort in the early evening. Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner. Overnight at Royam Saly.
