The tour of Taormina and Savoca is a high point among Sicilian day trips from Messina (either port or city center) especially for Godfather enthusiasts.
Starting from the place of departure, we are off to the historic town of Savoca in Sicily, an impressive medieval hamlet dubbed one of Italy’s most beautiful villages.
Here, you will embark on a mini tour of Savoca, tracing the path taken by the Godfather movie by F.F. Coppola. A statue in honor of Coppola is situated in the village’s scenic square, a spot also famous for the renowned Vitelli bar. Our tour guides will recount the area’s history and local celebrations.
Next, we head to Taormina, famously referred to as the ‘Mediterranean Pearl’. You’ll explore the ancient avenue of Corso Umberto, recently one of the filming locations for White Lotus Sicily’s second season.

Caring tour guides and fun tour - What makes for a great tour guide and company is when they really show you that they care. Discovered Messina tours was such a great time and very knowledgeable. Drive and coach we're clean and comfortable, and they offered water for the drive up. Ate and had drinks at the restaurant in the Godfather movie, which our tour guide help coordinate since you can't make reservations. Saw the church from the wedding and also more of Taormina. Katiana (hope i spelled right) was an excellent host and she took care to make sure we had what we needed. I decided to not ride back with the tour but took alternate means of transportation and she made sure to let them know that I needed to be back on time and checked in to make sure I arrived. So caring and thoughtful. Go ahead and book, you won't regret it.

Amazing tour! - From the moment we got off the ship until the moment we were returned to the ship the tour was well organized, fun, and informative. Katia was our tour guide and she was absolutely delightful! She was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and passionate about her love for Sicily. She made sure we got the best views, the best tastes of local treats, and the nicest interactions with local people. She made us fall in love with this beautiful island. Spending the day on this tour and with Katia was a special experience!

I would do it again - Katia was a wonderful guide. She has a passion for her profession and truly enjoyed interacting with people. The godFather tour was excellent. I highly recommend it. The pace was just right with just enough flexibility.

10/10 would recommend! Amazing! - Incredible experience. Katia was so kind and knowledgeable. She gave amazing recommendations of local eats and we were able to sample some of them. The dried tomato bread and the cookie was the perfect snack and she told us the best place to get a cannoli from Taormina and it was so delicious. I would recommend this tour to anyone traveling with kids, families, friends. And I would highly recommend Katia. One of my favorite tours and she convinced me to come back to Sicily to see more!

One of the highlights of my trip! - I had the best experience with Katia & Giacomo. Katia has a wealth of information to share and she kept the tour interesting and fun. She also genuinely cares about her guests. When several of us were leery of climbing a steep hill in Savoca she immediately said she’d call a taxi. I expected a regular car but the guy who showed up (Giancarlo) had this really cool motorized buggy that drove us up the hill and back. The experience alone was worth every penny! But Katia could’ve easily told us to suck it up or stay downhill. She didn’t hesitate to help us out. She also makes sure that everyone is with the group and not left behind.
We learned so much about Messina, Savoca and Taormina. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Messina but now I can’t wait to come back! And I can’t forget about our driver, Giacomo. Some of the roads aren’t for the weak and I’m glad he was behind the wheel. I felt very safe.
This tour was one of the highlights of my trip and I highly recommend Katia and Discover Messina Sicily Tours when you visit Messina.

A great day to remember, with fantastic hosts in Katia and Peppe, absolutely first class - This was by far the most enjoyable experience we had on our recent cruise around the Mediterranean.
Katia and Peppe were the perfect hosts and looked after us from the minute we met them until the very end of a fantastic day. katia and Peppe were both very knowledgeable and informative throughout the trip and made it an excursion to remember.

Magical Day With Katia in Savoca/Taormina - I simply LOVED EVERYTHING about this tour. We started the day being delayed coming into port, but a quick text to Discover Messina Sicily and they alleviated any concerns I had. They assured me that they would be waiting when we got to port and that they would not be late returning. When we did arrived in port, Discover Messina Sicily were so easy to find and our guide, Katia, welcomed us warmly. We boarded a comfortable coach and headed up to Savoca. Katia was so knowledgeable on all the history and traditions of Sicily and Savoca. Her English was impeccable and she made everyone feel at home in her beautiful country. She allowed us ample time to explore Savoca and enjoy Bar Vitelli before we re-boarded the bus to Taormina. Taormina was amazing and we certainly had ample time there as well. We were all in a very good mood when we loaded up for the short bus ride back to the port. Door to door service and with plenty of time to spare to allow us a few minutes in Messina. I would 100% recommend Discover Messina Sicily Tours to anyone arriving in Messina. This tour was one of the highlights of our entire cruise. Thank you Katia for your amazing hospitality.

Great Tour from Messina! - This was an awesome tour. We were picked up right where we disembarked the ship (name on card). The bus driver was phenomenal! The Godfather Tour was really informational. Getting to walk the same path as in the movie was iconic. Having granitas and cannolis at Bar Vitelli was a great experience. Taormina was absolutely lovely. The views of Mount Etna were breathtaking! Our tour guide (Kate) couldn’t have done anything better. She was amazing!

Book without any stress and enjoy this wonderful tour! - This was one of the best private tours I’ve had. First time in Italy and on Mediterranean cruise. Alessandra and JohnCarlo took us to Savoca where Godfather movie was filmed and then took us to Taormina. When we got out of the cruise, we were greeted by both of them. Alessandra has in-depth knowledge of Sicily! She gave us so much insight to Sicilian history and the places we were going to see. I loved listening to her and learn from her about Sicily. She brought us baked goods to try (one dessert item). This tour felt very relaxed, no rush and lots of fun. JohnCarlo drove us to all destinations. Both of them ensured we had enough time to visit each places but also made sure we got back to the cruise an half hour to 45 minutes before the cruise’s last call to close the gangway. I want to give a shoutout to both Alessandra and JohnCarlo for their exceptional tour. I wish I can do the whole Sicily tour with them in the future :)
