Outstanding kayak tour - Salina (sp? lol) AKA, Turtle Girl, was awesome. This is a great outfit. The owner hires real biologists. We’re very into nature adventures and I love kayaking. This was perfect. We’ve been on many kayaking tours over the years, so we kind of know what to expect. This had everything. If you go, and if you’re reading this, you should, hopefully you get to go to the sandbar and walk around. Our group found so many interesting animals, and having a biologist explain the details was awesome. Maybe the other tours are good but I can tell you, this one is great.

Fun and educational trip on gorgeous Rookery Bay with great guide - This was a fantastic trip!!! Our guide Selena was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. The trip was paced perfectly. Just the right mix of paddling through gorgeous mangrove tunnels, open bays, and stopping at mudflats. The trip started with a swallow tail kite flying just above us and then we saw dolphins. We saw (and held!) a bunch of critters. After the paddle was over, we went over to the Rookery Bay Reserve Environmental Learning Center and visited the touch tank where a terrific docent introduced us to more critters and we took a guided trail walk. What a great day! Highly recommend this trip and the learning center.

Great day in the mangroves - Evan our biologist guide and Heidi our historical guide were very knowledgeable and presented info in a manner that was interesting and fun. The paddle was an adventurous one thru the mangroves and calm open water. I went in afternoon. I would have seen more wildlife in morning.

Quality learning experience with highly professional guides. - I have been bringing classes of college student to South Florida for 15 years. This was one of the best kayaking experiences I have had with a guide in S-FL. From the first phone call, Jeannine was responsive to our needs as a class. She wanted to make this experience the best possible for my students. Then, when we arrived and met our guides, Ryan and Derrick, it was clear that this information had been passed along to them, too. Ryan and Derrick were so receptive to our questions all along the way. They peppered the paddling with relevant information at particular stopping points as well as when we were just paddling along. Ryan and Derrick met us ~5:30 pm for a paddle in the mangroves around sunset. They had a solo kayak for each of us (10 in our group). The rate of paddling was maybe a little slow at times, but it definitely provided for the chance to soak up the context. The rookery was a bit underwhelming in terms of size and number of birds. Appropriately, we had to keep a good distance away, so binoculars are helpful. Still, it was cool and an amazing experience to watch the birds (brown pelicans, great egrets, tricolored herons, reddish egret, and a few others) fly in at sunset. They let us totally soak up the last bits of daylight before heading back and arriving at the launch area under the cover of darkness. I highly recommend Rising Tide for anyone who is even a little bit of a nature nerd. Students totally loved the whole experience, too! Ryan provided the pictures I am sharing with this post, too! He took great photos to share with us. Dan Shustack Marc 22, 2025
