Beautiful tour! Well organized and full day experience - Great price to experience three of the most popular things to do in Kilimanjaro area. Our guida Lumpa and driver were great! Supervised us, watched our things while we swam, answered any questions we had and took great pictures for us. Be prepared that the day involved a lot of driving on some not so well maintained roads. The coffee tour is at the waterfall where they sell souvenirs (quoted 15USD for coffee bags, 60k TSZ for painting and postcard). The meal they served was by far the best local food we’ve had so far with some beans, rice, ugali, hot sauce, beef stew, and red rice. There’s an opportunity to buy their banana alcohol and beer at the tour (quoted 10k TSZ). Our lovely guide even bought us some sugar cane to snack on! Overall, a wonderful experience and well organized full day tour!!

Highlight in Tanzania! - I had an amazing experience on the Materuni Waterfall and Coffee Tour. Bazil, the guide, was outstanding—professional, friendly, and made me feel completely safe, even as a solo traveler. The hike to the waterfall was breathtaking, with stunning views and just the right amount of challenge. The highlight of the day was the coffee-making session with Edwin. He walked us through the entire process, from roasting the beans to brewing, and made it such an engaging and fun experience. You could feel his passion for coffee, and the end result was some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. The entire tour was well-organized and felt authentic from start to finish. I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking for a mix of adventure, culture, and great company. Thanks again to Bazil and Edwin for making the day unforgettable!

Nice day tour with very fair price - We booked the 3 sights tour (waterfall + coffee + hot springs) and it was a very nice day. Our guide changed the order so that we started at the hot springs and were able to be there almost on our own. Then we drove to the coffee plantation, where we had lunch with Edwin and his family and friends. It was fun and the food was delicious. Last, we hiked to the waterfall. The way was very muddy and slippery, and our shoes and trousers got very very dirty, but the sight of the waterfall was worth it. Overall a nice experience for a fair price.

Great locally owned tour company - This tour was a true highlight of my trip! The visit to Materuni Waterfalls and Chemka Hot Springs was breathtaking, but the warm hospitality from the Chagga community made it unforgettable. We were welcomed like family and treated to delicious local food. I highly recommend this tour—it’s a great way to explore the beauty of the region while supporting a local company making a real impact.

Amazing - “I booked a last-minute tour to Materuni Waterfall, the Coffee Tour, and the Chemka Hot Springs. Our local guide, Lumpa (@real_tourguide), was punctual and did an excellent job guiding us and even helping with photos. The tour itself was outstanding. The waterfall was breathtaking, and the coffee tour had such a strong sense of community — it truly felt like coming back home. Lunch was a delicious spread of green bananas and local vegetables prepared in different ways. We ended the day at the hot springs, which was a unique and refreshing experience. Thank you, Lumpa, for showing my friend Joan and me such an authentic side of Materuni.”

Materuni Waterfall and Coffee Tour - Nice pre-trekk prior to the our Kili trekk. Enjoyed the water fall and especially the coffee tour. Bring money as there are vendors on the way to the waterfall.

An Unforgettable Highlight in Tanzania – Don’t Miss This Tour! - During our 14-day adventure in the Moshi area of Tanzania, we did it all—climbed Kilimanjaro, went on a four-day safari, and shopped at Safari Land, Arusha Heritage, and the markets in Moshi. But without a doubt, the true highlight of the entire trip was the Materuni Coffee Tour with our incredible guide, Jerry. Jerry doesn’t just lead tours—he owns and manages his own organic coffee farm, which he operates as a community-based initiative right in his village. Every step of the coffee-making process is 100% organic and done entirely by hand. Watching how much care and tradition goes into producing each cup was inspiring. It was a powerful reminder of how low-tech, sustainable methods can have a big impact—not just locally, but globally. We also visited the beautiful Materuni Waterfall, which was another unforgettable experience. The hike to the falls was scenic, peaceful, and absolutely worth it. On the other hand, while we also visited Chemka Hot Springs, I found the long, rough road there to be a bit too challenging—it just didn’t compare to the richness of the Materuni experience. If you're visiting the Moshi area, do not miss this tour. Jerry is knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely committed to his community and the environment. This experience added depth, meaning, and connection to our trip in a way that few other activities could. Highly, highly recommend it!

Great day in Kilimanjaro and its surroundings - My guide Shukara was from the Chaga tribe who live on the slopes of Kilmajanjaro. Therefore I was able to understand more about these interesting people, and how they lived in this beautiful environment. The day was well managed, with a visit to Chemka hot springs for a swim (1 hour from Moshi), then the Materuni waterfall hike, with lunch. I also saw how they harvest, roast and produce the coffee beans. There is around 4 hours driving involved on this trip, which was well worth it.
