- Karen Blixen Museum - If you loved Out of Africa, you’ll love this museum in the farmhouse where author Karen Blixen lived between 1914 and 1931. She left after a series of personal tragedies, but the lovely colonial house has been preserved as a museum. Set in expansive gardens, the museum is an interesting place to wander around, but the movie was actually shot at a nearby location, so don't be surprised if things don't look entirely as you expect!

Karen Blixen Museum is a national museum in Kenya situated about 19 kilometres from Nairobi City centre. It was built in 1912 and was home to the iconic Danish author of
Out of Africa (won an Oscar Award)-Karen Blixen. This famous author, artist and poet lived here while setting up her coffee farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills.
In case you missed out, Out of Africa is a book which Karen Blixen wrote about her stay in Kenya and of her beloved farm, and was later made into a great movie. It shows the struggles she underwent to keep her estate and how her understanding and love grew for the culture and the people around her.

Fantastic Visit to Karen Blixen Museum - My guide was absolutely delighted and shared a wealth of knowledge! I’ve watched Out of Africa many many times and loved the tour. A must see!

Wonderfully informative. - My visit to the Karen Blixen Museum was wonderful, guided by great viator reps from Nairobi. Such an informative experience that helped to not only better understand Blixen, but her place in Kenyan history.

Out of Africa in Karen’s footsteps - If you watched the movie or read the book “ out of Africa” then seeing the Karen Blixen museum is well worth the visit......and the volunteer guides are a nice touch as they are well versed and very pationate.
