- Sheldrick Wildlife Trust - An accredited guide will greet and accompany visitors to the elephant orphanage. This guided session, held daily from 11 am to 12 noon, offers insights into the sanctuary’s efforts in elephant conservation in Kenya. Visitors can enjoy watching the baby elephants and capture memorable moments through photography. During the visit, guests can observe the elephants enjoying their bottles of milk, playing in sand baths, and cooling off in mud baths. There is also an opportunity to adopt and sponsor an orphaned baby elephant of choice.
- Giraffe Centre - Next, visitors will be driven to the Giraffe Centre to learn about conservation efforts for the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. The Giraffe Centre, established by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W. Kenya), aims to educate Kenyan school children and youth about their country’s wildlife and environment, while also providing local and international visitors a chance to interact with giraffes, the world’s tallest species.
-
KOBE TOUGH beads & leather - The tour continues to the Kobe Beads Centre, a pottery company renowned for creating some of the world’s most beautiful beads. Visitors will be shown the entire production process. This unique factory employs single mothers from impoverished neighborhoods, providing them with a livelihood to support their families. It serves as a women empowerment center for the community.
Visitors then have the option to enjoy lunch before being dropped off at their hotel, apartment, or the airport for their flight. - Karen Blixen Museum - (OPTIONAL) Located in Nairobi’s leafy suburbs, the Karen Blixen Museum is a timeless tribute to the renowned author of “Out of Africa.” The guided tour reveals a house preserved in time, reflecting stories from 20th-century colonial Kenya. Original furniture, personal artifacts, and photographs offer an intimate look into Blixen’s life. Knowledgeable guides share tales of her adventures, romances, challenges, and deep connection to the Kenyan landscape. The expansive gardens, once part of her coffee plantation, echo her pioneering spirit. Each room, especially her preserved study where her literary masterpieces were created, provides an immersive experience into her world, making the tour not just a house exploration, but a profound journey into the life of a literary and historical icon.
