Highlights
  • Mount Longonot National Park -
Located southeast of Lake Naivasha in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, Mount Longonot is a strato volcano believed to have erupted last in the 1860s. Its name originates from the Maasai word oloonong’ot, which translates to “mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges”.
Standing just shy of 2780m (9100ft) above sea level, Mount Longonot boasts a forested interior and a solitary steam vent to the northeast.
Ascending to the summit of the Great Rift Valley offers an opportunity to immerse oneself in the vast, untamed wilderness of Kenya.

The ascent of Mt. Longonot (2600m) commences with an approximately 1-hour trek to the crater’s rim, followed by a 2 to 5-hour journey around the crater’s escarpments, all while taking in the spectacular vistas.
The descent will lead back to the mountain’s base, culminating in a return trip to Nairobi.
