Highlights
  • Nagarkot Nature Trail - Your private guide will collect you from your hotel at 4:15am for the scenic 90-minute drive to Nagarkot. You’ll pass small towns, lush forests, winding roads, and little teahouses as you enjoy mountain panoramas in the distance.

About 24 miles away from Kathmandu, Nagarkot towers at an elevation of 7,200 feet (2,195 meters). Enjoy sunrise from Nagarkot view tower and your guide will point out the different Himalayan ranges in the distance, among them the Annapurna Range, the Mansiri Range, the Langtang Range, the Everest Range, and the Rolwaling Range.

From here, you’ll follow a small walking trail to the village of Rohini Bhanjyang that has amazing views across to the Himalayan ranges. From here, the rugged path leads through the little hamlets of Kankre and Tanchok to Tusal, where it climbs uphill through farms and farmland to Opi.

Hike an hour or so further and you’ll reach the stunning hill station of Dhulikhel, with its majestic natural beauty. The snowcapped mountains often look as though they’re floating in the air when the blue haze covers their flanks, while the landscapes of farmland and mountain peaks are timeless.

Spend some time in Dhulikhel admiring the views and capturing great shots before your private driver collects you and your guide. It’s a bit over an hour to Kathmandu, so you should be back at your hotel before 1-2pm, traffic permitting.

A very nice tour - It was a very nice tour. The pick-up from the hotel was on time. Our guide Madan showed us a lot and told us about the different temples. The hike was not too difficult and led through forests, villages and beautiful landscapes. I can recommend this tour and the guide Madan. We booked the tour through Getyourguide.

Very complete excursion - We had a great day, our guide was spectacular. We do not speak fluent English and he has communicated very well with us. We started the day watching the sunrise although the clouds did not allow us to see the Himalayas. Then we took a 12 km route where we met the traditional Nepalese villages and had breakfast in a typical house (the tea was great). We were able to see how they work in the fields and take care of the animals. The walk ends at the ancient temple of Nepal which is a wonderful monument, it has explained to us which god each one belonged to. It is certainly a 100% recommended excursion! We encourage you to do it, my husband and I if one day we return to Nepal we will contact him again!!

Excellent, even with all the smog! - I took this tour solo on my only day off while on a work trip. Ravi picked me up at 4am from my hotel and made me feel very safe with his confident and calm driving! My guide, Subash, was friendly, knowledgeable and relaxed. Despite the smog covering much of the views, I had a great experience in the most beautiful country! Recommend!

Beautiful sunrise and refreshing early morning hike - Highly recommend! The sunrise at Nagarkot was beautiful and definitely worth getting up for early. It's a must see during a stay in Kathmandu. After the sunrise we stopped for a coffee at a local coffee shop before embarking on a hike to the Changunarayan temple. The hike was short but beautiful. I really enjoyed walking through the villages and having a chance to observe the daily life. Combined with amazing views it was a great experience. My guide, Subash, was very knowledgeable and provided a ton of interesting information about local customs and way of life. I'd definitely recommend him if you're doing this tour. Overall, it was a great experience that I'd recommend to anyone staying in Kathmandu for a few days.

Sunrise experience - Had a fantastic time walking from Nargakot after seeing the rising of the sun. Unfortunately the weather meant visibility was not great but still a great experience. Subash looked after us, pointing out things of interest and generally giving a good commentary as we walked. Definitely worth doing.
