Arun Fine Arts - Woodworking and wooden handicrafts have been a significant contribution of Mysore to the world of arts for centuries. This is evident in the various palaces, museums, and temples in Mysore and its surroundings. Three types of wood are commonly used for crafting wooden handicrafts: the durable Teak wood, the exotic Rosewood, and the unique Sandalwood. Wooden handicrafts are seen as religious sculptures, furniture, decorative items, and more. Mysore is particularly renowned for its wood inlay work, utilizing natural wood from Mango, maple, ebony, walnut, jackfruit, cedar, mahogany, Deodar, and others. Visitors will explore a showroom and workshop of a wooden handicrafts shop in Mysore to observe artisans at work, with the opportunity to shop if interested.

St. Philomena’s Church - St. Philomena’s Church, now known as St. Joseph’s Cathedral, is one of Mysore’s finest buildings, showcasing a different architectural style than its palaces. Constructed in the Gothic style in 1941 with significant contributions from Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, the then Mysore King, the Cathedral houses a bone relic of St. Philomena, a 4th-century martyr from France. The Church’s philanthropic efforts are evident through its support of educational institutions and orphanages. The church also features stunning stained glass ceilings and windows, along with a crypt and classic furniture.
