Al Alam Palace - The Al Alam Palace, known as the “Palace of the Flag,” is situated in Old Muscat, Oman. It served as a ceremonial palace for Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said. As one of the six sultanic residences of the monarch, it boasts a history of over 200 years and was constructed under the supervision of Imam Sultan bin Ahmed, the 7th direct ancestor of Sultan Qaboos.

Al Jalali Fort - Al Jalali Fort, also known as Ash Sharqiya Fort, is located in the harbor of Old Muscat, Oman. Built by the Portuguese under Philip I of Portugal in the 1580s, it was intended to protect the harbor after Muscat was twice attacked by Ottoman forces. It was captured by Omani forces in 1650. During the civil wars between 1718 and 1747, the fort was twice seized by Persians who were invited to support one of the rival Imams. The fort underwent extensive reconstruction later.
