  Peak to Valley: Lekshmi Hills Pothamedu Mountain Hiking Adventure

Nestled in the heart of Kerala’s Western Ghats, Lekshmi Hills in Pothamedu offers an unparalleled trekking experience that immerses adventurers in the region’s lush, natural beauty. This full-day hike, ranging between 14 to 18 kilometers, promises not only physical challenge but also an extraordinary encounter with the diverse flora and fauna of the region.

Our journey begins by trekking through tea plantations for roughly 1.5 to 2 hours, leading us to the apex of the hill. The remaining few hours of our expedition will follow the ridge, presenting us with scenic vistas of grasslands, rocky mountain slopes on one side and tea plantations and stretches of Shola forest on the other. On a clear day, we can spot the Anaimudi – the tallest peak in Southern India, and the Idukki Dam, one of the highest arch dams in Asia and third highest in India. We take a break for refreshments consisting of fruits and snacks. Our trek leads us through the Nature Zone resort where we can spot some exotic spices such as Coffee and Cardamom. Our journey continues to the topmost peak (2000 mtr) followed by a short walk of about 10 minutes through the Shola forest to the tea plantation. The concluding leg of our journey involves a 1.5 to 2 hours walk through the tea plantations, finishing our trek. The highest point of this venture would be approximately 2000 meters MSL.
