Don’t leave Munich without this day trip - This is a must get day trip if you are in Munich. The town and Castle that we visited was amazing. The Alps in this time of year look incredible and the whole area is beautiful!

Awesome Tour - Each year, I take a solo trip for Christmas, and I try to fill them with all the things important to me on a holiday: sightseeing, learning, history, and fun. Neuschwanstein was naturally at the top of my list for this trip, and this tour did not disappoint. Charlie was my guide, and he was fantastic. Usually there are two guides per tour; but Charlie had to handle all of us on our own as the other was sick. Charlie is a great docent, for all the usual reasons: he's knowledgeable, friendly, etc. But he shines in two specific areas: taking the subject matter seriously and caring deeply about his guests. The level of care displayed was phenomenal, and it truly felt like Charlie already somehow knew each of us. And in terms of his style, he avoids the usual corny jokes one usually hears on tours. He doesn't treat the subject matter as boring, using jokes to fill in where insecurity reigns. Instead, he treats the subject matter with respect, and encourages the group to do the same. It was really cool! Also traveling solo? Here's an easy tip: board the bus first ;-)

Dream castle up a steep hill - We had a great day both the tour guides Elizabeth and stephanie were really really wonderful as well as the bus driver. This was a trip of a lifetime. very exciting to finally come to this beautiful part of the world and it was exciting that there was snow. I was really thankful. I took the horse cart to the top and didn’t have to do the large amount of walking inside. The Castle is really beautiful, remember, no photos allowed, but the stairs are a killer I managed to keep up with the tour group but was always last.

Great day out to a magical destination! - We did this tour as a group of 4 friends and could speak more highly of the day. Both tourguides, Charlie and Nic, made the day an unforgettable adventure into the stunning Bavarian countryside. They had their history down to a 'T' and truly brought it to life. The tour itself allowed for enough time to explore the town of Schwangau and the castle itself. Highly recommended!

Breathtaking! - This is a real life fairytale castle. I have been to many castles and palaces throughout Europe, and this one is by far in a class by itself. No pictures or videos allowed, so nothing to share, but the interior is beautifully maintained and lovingly tended to. Every room is spectacular and evokes Hans Christian Anderson tales. After all these years, the colors and designs on the walls, ceilings, and floors are vibrant and crisp. The grotto is enchanting, as well as all the arches and passageways. I kept expecting to see Cinderella or Prince Charming around every corner. What I loved most is that this castle is small cozy, and romantic. There is nothing about this place that is overly ornate— just elegant, classy, and lovingly designed, as you will see for yourself. The docent's story of the Prince who created this magical little world will break your heart and add to the mystery of this haven.

Hallstatt Tour - The views on this trip were amazing! The drive there and back was full of beautiful scenery and interesting facts from our tour guide. Hallstatt itself was our favorite view of our entire Europe trip, it was breathtaking! Highly recommend!

Must See For Disney Fan - This was the second tour I did with Radius Tours while in Munich. I’m so glad I let them take care of all the logistics. It made for a worry free experience for me. Stevo & Werner were our tour guides and we were kept informed every step of the way. The bus ride to the castle area gave us time to see the country and learn the history of the castle. We were given free time once at the castle area to shop and eat. Then we were given the option to either walk up or take the bus to the castle. If you take the bus, don’t buy a round trip ticket. The place where you exit from the castle is not near the bus stop (requires about a 10-15 minute uphill walk as opposed to a downhill walk on the path outside the castle to get back to town). It cost 17 euro to go inside the castle on the tour, but the cost was worth it. Unfortunately, people with mobility issues may have difficulty due to the number of steps inside the castle that must be navigated to get to the start of the tour. While I thoroughly enjoyed the tour, I totally underestimated the amount of walking, steps, and uphill climbs required to see the site.

Beautiful castle, not enough to do on the tour - Neuschwanstein itself was lovely — the tour of the castle is quite short and was only given by audio guide, but they are given by the government so the tour company can’t do anything about that. Our tour guide was great, but the trip itself was way too long for the number of things there are to do. We had an hour and a half for lunch, then an hour and a half before our tour of the castle and then an hour to get back to the bus after that. It ended up feeling like a trip that easily could have been a half day. Or, it would have been good to book ourselves tickets to Hohenschwangau Castle so we had something to do with all of our extra free time, but we weren’t given an itinerary in advance so there wasn’t a way to plan for that. Also the tour company ended up short by one ticket, so one of the people on our tour was unable to tour the castle. The outside of the castle is cooler than the tour of the inside anyway, but seeing as guaranteed tickets is one of the services of this tour, that should have been locked up.

Skip the tour, hire a car instead - This is a tough one to review, so the highs and lows are below. Positives: - Charlie was a great guide and even though he talked a little too much, he clearly knew his stuff and was very friendly. - The castle itself is well worth a visit! Negatives: - The timing of the day! There was SO much waiting around in the cold. We had an hour for lunch and to explore the village, but then 1.5 hours to walk/ bus/ carriage up to the castle which takes at most 40 mins if you walk. Then there was another 1.5 hours to get back down to the meeting point (again, max 40 minutes). It’s cold up there in winter and there’s no shelter from the rain so they seriously need to adjust their timings. - The cost: you pay extra for the castle, extra for lunch, extra for the carriage or bus ride. I’m still not sure where the €60 goes. - We booked expecting a max of 25 people in our group so were disappointed when we ended up with 52. Castle: 5/5 Charlie: 4/5 Overall tour: 2/5 If you can get up there yourself, it’s a much better choice than taking a tour.

Disappointed - The area and the views are amazingly beautiful. However, it’s not possible to go up the hill with the car. We either had to walk or use the horse carriage which the poor animals had to carry up to 10 to 15 people up the hill. Therefore, we didn’t feel good about taking the horse carriage but walked instead. My wife had an issue with her leg and she struggled a lot. I expected some kind of lift to the hill for the people who have difficulty walking. Apart from that the castle is amazing and worth to go and visit!
