Fun Guides - Loved seeing the castle and learning the history of the founding of Salzburg as well as "Sound of Music" sights. Nic and Jeremy were informative as well as entertaining especially when we had to take a bus instead of the train and there was an accident which detained us a while. All was good. Learned about the origin of Octoberfest as well!

Lovely - The trip was delightful! There was plenty of time to explore the city, considering it was a one-way trip and the city is small.

We showed up expecting to... - We showed up expecting to ride a train, but due to train issues we took a coach bus which was very comfortable. Nick and Jeremy were informative of history while on the bus ride. Once we got to Salzburg, there was a festival going on that made the walking tour a little more crowded than I imagine it normally is. Still beautiful town, plenty of Sound of Music history and Mozart history, and plenty of time to eat and walk around on your own to enjoy the scenery.

A nice day trip if you have an extra day in Munich - I was worried that there would not be enough time to see all of Salzburg in the limited time frame but it quickly became clear that Salzburg old town is TINY and I think I walked the whole place over 3 times and still had time to sit by the river and eat.
You meet at the office and walk to the train station. The train was waiting and our guide Lucia took up to an empty carriage so we could all sit together. She did an excellent job keeping up informed and entertained. If you want a coffee or breakfast to bring on the train do it BEFORE you meet up because there is no stopping and no cafe car. Our train didnt leave until 9:55am with an 11:40am arrival in Salzburg. So yes, that is a LOT of time between when you meet at the office and the train leaves. You are sitting on the train for almost an hour before you leave.
We arrived in Salzburg and quickly got on a bus that took us to the old town area. Lucia gave us a walking tour until about 1:30pm pointing out locations of interest things to eat and see and suggestions on how to maximize our free time. Listen to her!
The old town was lovely and easily covered in the free time. I did my own audio walking tour and climbed up to the viewpoint for photos. This is well worth it but there is also an elevator option. I grabbed food from a stall and wandered the streets. Its a really nice way to spend a day.
We met back up at 4:30pm and our train back left at 5:05pm. I think we were back in Munich a little after 7pm

A good experience - A very good arrangement if you are pressed for time. We had only 1 day to spare. The tour itself is well arranged. Mat was our guide. He was very caring, Funny and professional. Made sure we all had a great experience.

Guide should not talk politics - Great day and experience in Salzburg. The train ride was fun despite a few loudmouths from Canada and Texas. Our guide was good and seemed kind. Our only complaint was that she made derogatory comments about the president of my country and the hand gesture of slitting his throat. Complete turn off from that point on. We knew we were not going to tip. We returned to Munich without incident and said our goodbyes. Best recommendation is to keep quiet as no one knows what political affiliation is within the group. Except for the big mouth Texan who let it loudly be known what side he was on before we even left the meeting point. The guide positioned herself with him even on the train. Very off-putting.
