Global Vipassana Pagoda - The Global Vipassana Pagoda is a meditation hall near Gorai, northwest of Mumbai, India. Inaugurated by then-President of India Pratibha Patil on February 8, 2009, it is built on donated land between Gorai creek and the Arabian Sea. The pagoda serves as a monument of peace and harmony, built in gratitude to Sayagyi U Ba Khin, a Vipassana teacher and the first Accountant-General of Independent Burma, who played a key role in bringing Vipassana back to India. The center of the pagoda contains the world’s largest stone dome built without supporting pillars.
