• Elephanta Caves - Early morning pick up from the hotel and drive to Gateway of India to board the boat to Elephanta Island (closed every Monday). This tour takes you from Mumbai to the rock art of the Elephanta Caves on Elephanta Island. On your arrival at the island, you will proceed to the Elephanta Caves, which contain a collection of rock art linked to the Shiva sect. At Elephanta, Indian art found one of its most perfect expressions, particularly in the huge and high reliefs of the main cave. After the visit to Elephanta Caves, return by ferry to Mumbai. The Elephanta Caves, a series of intricately carved caves, are situated on Elephanta Island, also known as Gharapuri, in Mumbai Harbour. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, these caves represent Mumbai’s oldest historical landmark and are among the top tourist attractions in the city.

Renowned for their exquisite Hindu temples and sculptures, the Elephanta Caves were named by the Portuguese after they discovered an elephant statue on the island. This statue is currently housed at the Bhau Daji Lad Museum in Jijamata Udyan, Byculla, Mumbai. The island features two clusters of caves, showcasing rock-cut architecture. Five of these caves, located on the island’s western hills, are dedicated to the Shaiva sect of Hinduism, with various Hindu sculptures meticulously carved within them.
