Such a surprise, more going on than I ever imagined! - The group that they subbed this tour out to ( like all tours are) was Reality Tours. They have an educational program for the young people inside the slums. Their office is inside the slums. My guide was fantastic, Javed, he could not have been better. He was so knowledgeable and happy to answer all my questions. The Dharavi slums are a well organized machine, a city with all the parts, it reminded me of an ant farm, a million people crammed together all doing their job to make a living and get things accomplished. Fascinating!

A recommendable learning experience - The driver picked us up at our friend's house in time. Due to the horrible traffic in Mumbai it took us almost two hours to reach the place where the guide met us. He introduced himself and informed us about the duration of our walking tour through Dharavi, and that there will be no clean washrooms. He recommended to use the washroom in a café before we start, which was clean and in high demand by other tourists on their way to Dharavi. Our guide was a very friendly and knowledgable young man who was so open to share his personal background with us, how he came to Dharavi and how he became eventually a guide for Reality Tours. It was an extraordinary experience for us and gave us some very valuable information and insights in living and working conditons in this part of Dharavi. Absolutely recommendable! Thanks a lot!

A fantastic and really inspiring day in Dharavi - We were a group of 4 couples signing up for the Dharavi Slum Tour with Reality Tours & Tranvel (RTT) and what a great day we had!!! The experience was "worth every dollar" - not only with the two excellent guides Naynish and Hitesh, but also the way the entire tour was arranged and organised. We were picked up at the cruise terminal in Mumbai by the the two guides and thereafter driven in two very comfortable cars on a sight-seeing tour in Mumbai before we finally arrived in Dharavi. We had been warned by many people - even locals - that it would be very dangerous to enter the Dharavi slum. BUT this was indeed proven so wrong!! First of all; all of us felt totally safe throughout the entire 2.5 hours walk in the slum. Despite the sad background of the one million people living in Dharavi, it was very up-lifting and perception-changing to experience so much productivity, activity etc. inside. Inhabitants in Dharavi are very hard-working in the numerous small factories in the area. We did not meet any single person that was not friendly and welcoming, children greeting us with "hello, how are you" without begging or asking for anything. With the initiatives from the local government and the spirit of people in Dharavi THERE IS INDEED HOPE. We had never thought of going into a slum area like Dharavi, but we are so thankful that we did it thanks to Reality Tours & Travel - it put our perception into perspective!!! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE TOUR AND REALITY TOURS AND TRAVEL.
