Highlight of the trip! - 10/10 would recommend for a day out from Reykjavík. The pick up and drop off process from your hotel or bus stop made everything so much easier. There are plenty of food and toilet stops along the way but worth taking some cash too as eftpos can go offline sometimes. Ice climbing and hiking up the Glacier was the highlight of the day. And probably the trip! Such a cool experience to hike up a Glacier and climb up an ice wall. Guides were super fun, helpful and knowledgeable. We always felt safe (as can be!) No complaints! Would absolutely recommend. A tip for all tourists is be back at the bus on time for every stop because it slows everyone else down. Sometimes people in your group meet up with other groups to do different activities. So timing is key.

Glacier Hike & Ice Climbing tour with Southcoast Adventure - the highlight of our trip! - We took the Blue Ice: Glacier Hike & Ice Climbing tour with Southcoast Adventure. This was a 4 hour small group experience that was truly unforgettable and the highlight of our entire week in Iceland. The views were unbelievable and something we will never forget. Steve was an amazing guide and brought the perfect mix of information and humor to this very adventurous and unique experience. He clearly loves what he does and made sure we were all safe throughout the experience. While there was some level of physical challenge for this tour, Steve made it fun. We highly recommend this tour, and if you can - take it with Steve!

Amazing guide and stunning views!!! - Our guide Kevin (from Troll.is) was amazing !!! He truly made the day special. He was so caring, so patient, so knowledgable about not only the terrain but also about ice climbing in general. He even taught us how to do the "viking pushup" to drink fresh glacier water straight from the glacier! The whole day was phenomenal.

Extraordinary experience - Steve was the best guide you could imagine. In total a 10/10 experience but Steve made it 11/10. Nice hike on to the glacier and to the climbing spot, but the climbing was definitely the highlight. Steve took the time for everyone to feel comfortable and safe during climbing on the ice. Would definitely recommend this experience and absolutely worth it.

Great experience! - We did several tours with Arctic Adventures and this one and the snorkeling tour were our favorites. Our driver on the first day, Lili, did a great job in showing and explaining us the things we saw on our way to the glacier as well as giving us insight into Iceland/Reykjavik (spots to see, food, public pools etc.) Although there were several tours from other companies that day we did not have to wait long to get to the glacier and start climbing. Basia, our guide, took good care of us, making sure we didn't get cold and showed us other interesting formations in the glacier. We loved the snorkeling a lot and our guide Weronika made sure we are ok and that we can manage the 30 to 40 min in the cold water. But since there is only one spot to enter into the water and multiple tours at the same time who do this activity, we also had to wait for a bit to get in. Another thing is, that the same spot is not only for snorkeling but also for diving so we had to wait even a bit more because you can't snorkel on top of the divers. Since we could have even two thin warm layers underneath the warm and the dry suit most of the body stayed relatively warm. The only parts that will be cold are your hands and feet. If I was to do the same tour again, I would take thicker socks or even two pairs of socks (one of them being wool socks) to keep my feet warmer (I only had thin socks). Also, for people with longer hair.. it will get wet. Wear it in a low ponytail and take a comb to fix your hair afterwards ;)

Exciting tour with experienced, kind guide. - Our guide (Angie) was knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. I really appreciate the care she took not only with our group, but also with other hikers who were out on the glacier without a guide. She obviously takes her job seriously - and enjoys it!

Ice climbing optional - My wife and I had been on glacier hikes before, but I had wanted to try ice climbing. We had looked for ice climbing tours, but even for beginners they required that you be physically capable of climbing throughout to complete the tour. I was reasonably confident, but my wife was a bit unsure. She has the heart, but sometimes these things are just a bit beyond her. She found this tour which listed the climbing bit as 'optional' -- which was perfect. We could do the hike together and we'd get to try climbing, but if she found it wasn't for her she could standby and watch and just do the hike -- and that's exactly how it turned out. Our guide was Steve and he was great. Very friendly and encouraging. He worked with her to give it a few honest tries, but hanging over the edge of a 90 foot chasm in the ice was a bit too much for her -- so she just watched the rest of our group do it, and was just happy to be there. We were seven in our group and everyone was eager to try. There had been a couple of other folks who had been unsure, but Steve helped them feel comfortable and everyone else was successful -- including me. I was pretty tired by the time I came back up, but I definitely enjoyed the experience. Not sure that I'm going to be a career ice climber, but glad I gave it a try and might give it another go someday just to see if I could do better with my technique. Thanks Steve for a great experience!

Introduction to Really Fun Activity - This is a one day activity. Ice climbing is a super fun activity that doesn't require any previous experience. Putting on the crampons was also a first, but it was straightforward enough. Overall a fun day activity for active people. Our guide, Max, was excellent. Good communication skills and was very professional with a big emphasis on safety, which was appreciated due to the potential for serious injury from unsupported falls.
