Sólheimajökull Glacier Parking Lot - Upon meeting the guide, participants will be introduced to the upcoming activity.
After checking in, the guide will inspect all boots. If they do not meet the safety standards for ice climbing, participants will need to rent climbing boots from a nearby company (climbing is not permitted without proper boots!)….

After checking in, the guide will inspect all boots. If they do not meet the safety standards for ice climbing, participants will need to rent climbing boots from a nearby company (climbing is not permitted without proper boots!).
Next, it’s time to gear up. Participants will learn how to properly wear a harness, helmet, and how to safely handle ice axes and crampons.
From the parking lot, there is a 20-minute walk to the glacier’s edge, where participants will be introduced to crampons, learning how to wear them and walk with them.
Then, it’s time to explore the glacier!
Following a single-file line, participants will follow the guide through the glacier’s terminal area to the plateau. Here, the guide will select the best climbing spot based on the group’s fitness and experience levels.
This is where most of the glacier experience will take place, climbing on a moulin or the wall of a crevasse.
Once the group is satisfied with the climbing experience, the guide will lead everyone back to the starting point, collect all the gear, and check everyone out after an incredible glacier adventure.
