Great private tour! - We had a wonderful time with our guide, Lucas. He led us to parts of the glacier that were away from the big tour groups so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. He led us into ice caves, let us try ice climbing, and challenged us (but only as much as we wanted) while keeping us safe. Totally satisfied with the tour — it was the highlight of our trip to Iceland!

Best glacier tour of Iceland - What an amazing tour we had with glacier encounter on Friday 16 February 2024. Jökull guided us over the ice mountains, through ice holes and caves and learned us ice climbing, gliding, abseiling and hiking techniques. Amazing private experience - Amazing experience! My wife and I booked the Private Extreme Encounter. We had two guides, one of which was a co-founder of the company. We met in the parking lot where they kitted us out with great quality boots, harnesses, crampons and helmets. They took us up onto the glacier away from the large groups who just do a basic walk. The guides set ropes and we climbed along some amazing ice ridges. They let us go at our own pace. We explored an amazing ice tunnel, lowering ourselves down on a rope before climbing up a worm hole with ice axes. The guides always made sure we were comfortable. Safety was top notch. Equipment was excellent. They took some amazing photos for us without us having to ask. I very rarely write reviews but this was an exceptional trip and well worth the money. Avoid the mass groups that only walk a well trodden path on the glacier - go explore with these guys and support a small business!

Close-encounters with glaciers, caves, waterfalls & climbing with ropes:) - The extreme encounter adventure with Lucas was an absolute delight and will be remembered as a memorable trip for all of us for a long time! Lucas’s enthusiasm, humour, and professionalism during the glacier climb, under sub-zero ambients with snowfall and gusty winds, made every minute of the tour an adventure. Lucas improvised on hiking routes, and tailored the trip accordingly (considering the varying abilities of climbing glaciers between the three of us) while adhering to the highest safety standards. We will be recommending this trip to our family and friends as a must-do whilst visiting Iceland. Thank you once again Lucas and a well-deserved 5-star rating for Glacier Encounters:)

Best experience ever! - This experience truly felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity. Lucas was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the glacier as we hiked through and on top of it. He made us feel very safe and comfortable, and even stopped to take as many pictures as we wanted throughout. He was able to cater to us for the ice climbing to make the best of our abilities. Overall it was a fantastic day. Highly recommend!!

One of the best adventures in Iceland! - Very professional and experienced guide. He provides boots and all necessary equipment. The guide also sets up security ropes etc. The tour starts from a walk to the glacier along an ice lagoon with icebergs. On approach to the glacier the guide shows how to put on and to use crampons. He also tells a lot of interesting facts about the glacier and the area. The programme of climbing is individually tailored according to your experience, ability and your expectations as well. First we did training climb at the very secured place on the angled wall around 5-7 meters height. Then, as we gained some little skills, we went to 30-40 meters deep cavern and every one was lowered down by the guide to the level where one felt comfortable and we climbed up. The maximum level one of us was lowered down was about 15-20 meters. The cavern was deeper than that. After that we had a tour around the glacier and, again, did sort of competition on another secured but higher wall with some negative angle (incline) After that we returned back through picturesque part of the glacier where our guide set a security rope for us. Overall it was incredible and very memorable experience, one of the best during our stay in Iceland. Thank you!

Amazing experience on Extreme Encounter - We did the Extreme Encounter with Jokull and Heather and it was amazing. We got to see and do things we never would have done with one of the larger tour operators - including exploring a newly opened ice cave which felt like a real adventure. Our 17 year old son really enjoyed the physical challenges and we all felt completely safe throughout due to the expert knowledge of our guides. We got a real insight into Iceland from our chats with Jokull on the walk up and back, and his bad jokes were pretty good also. Would thoroughly recommend.

Amazing! - Went with a group of friends. What made it special is that we were just with the 4 of us. The private tour provided gives freedom to roam the glaciers and all its glory.

Fantastic - If I could give 10 stars, I would... Luca was just extraordinary. Professional, very safe, he guides you through this extreme and unforgettable experience by adapting to your condition and your level. He introduces you to his ice cream, which he knows like the back of his hand, and doesn't hesitate to take you where others would only have you take photos. In addition, he is very good company. Very good climbing sports, magnificent viewpoints during trekking. I recommend 200%.
