Amazing time - Our family, including kids ages 5 and 8, had a wonderful time. This was a perfect introduction to kayaking for them and a great way to learn about the local ecosystem. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Wonderful experience on Shem Creek - We loved our kayak tour! It was the perfect length of time and they gave good instructions/fitting of the kayaks beforehand. We got to explore the creek into the harbor a bit as well as the salt marsh. Our guide was very informative about the wildlife and salt marsh. We were a little tired (but not too bad) at the end just because of the stronger wind coming back, but the guide made sure to keep everyone together. We were able to take some great photos and enjoyed our time on the water.

Worthwhile Dolphin Sunset Tour - We took the sunset boat tour to see dolphins and we saw many! Some of them were the smallest that we had ever seen, as there were mother's with babies. We also saw lots of pelicans, cormorants, a couple of Great Blue Herons and egrets. It was definitely worth the trip. It was lots of fun.

Fun times - This was such a fun trip for my fiance and I. I have only kayaked once and my fiance hasn’t yet. The tour guides were very informative and helped us out tremendously. I needed more help with the kayak and the guides were there to help. The views were amazing and it was so much fun trying something new. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Charleston.

Fantastic Expirence - This tour was absolutely amazing. I called the place about maybe week in advance with some questions about which times would be best to see what and they were so helpful on the phone. I then get there and I take a ride with Abby and Madison who were the nicest people ever. They were so kind and definitely knew their stuff. Abby made sure to stop and point out all the little interesting wildlife we saw along the way (and there was lots of it) going so far as to warn me that a dolphin was right in front of me and to stop paddling so I didn't hit it. Abby also have interesting information on local history and events like the shrimp boats. I loved every minute of my tour and my family, who went on the tour with me, and I talked about that tour for hours afterwords. It was fantastic and if im ever back in the Charleston area I want to go again!

Fresh air and salt marsh kayak tour - Jackie provided an informed kayak guided tour of the Shem Creek. Mostly upstream of the shrimp boat docks, the creek winds through the salt marsh. The habitat seen at the shore wouldn't have been much to my understanding without a good guide. Thanks, Jackie. That was a great experience for us. Timing the tide and the breeze... All appreciated to make the paddling experience easy. I also liked the Coastal Expeditions dock and ramps for kayak entry and exit... very convenient.

Good trip, but not necessarily suited for newbies - I had an enjoyable time but my wife was miserable. I have previous canoeing and limited kayaking experience, so I took to it quickly, but my wife was a kayaking newbie and faced painful difficulties. Before we started, the instructor asked how many in the group had kayaked before, and almost everyone except my wife raised their hands. The instructor gave basic instructions, and we were then in the water and off. My wife eventually mastered most techniques and could steer and propel her kayak quite well. The problem was that she was either sitting too low in her kayak or the sides of the kayak were too high for her height. This caused her fingers and knuckles to hit the kayak's sides on almost every paddle stroke. The guides tried to provide some assistance, but after she couldn't get any relief, they seemingly gave up and moved on. She ended the trip with painful hands, and crushed self-esteem which brought her to tears. She and I will attempt to try kayaking under more controlled and less stressful circumstances. We were just disappointed that her paddling issues couldn't be resolved. That said, anyone with kayaking experience should find the trip fun and interesting. The guides explained the ecosystem, the wildlife, and the area, and that aspect was well done.
