The Rongai Route is unique as it is the sole path that ascends Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border. Its ascent profile closely resembles that of the Marangu Route. Known for being one of the more accessible routes on Kilimanjaro, the climb is gradual and consistent. In contrast to Marangu, Rongai is less crowded and traverses through secluded wilderness areas. It is likely the only route where encountering wildlife in the initial days is possible.
