Highlights
  • Arusha National Park - Make sure you have an early (and good!) breakfast because we will leave Moshi at 8:00 am sharp for the hour’s drive to Arusha National Park. Once you arrive, you’ll stretch your legs on an amazing walking safari, accompanied by a ranger who will guide you through rainforest up to a sparkling waterfall where you’ll be able to spot black and white colobus monkeys going about their day. After a tasty lunch you’ll get into the Land Cruiser for a game drive that will take you through a wider scope of the park, including the Lakes of Momella and the Ngurduto Crater, and you’ll most likely spot buffalo, waterbuck, giraffe, warthogs, zebra and gazelle as well as a host of different bird species. If you’re lucky you’ll catch a glimpse of the shy leopard or elephant. Don’t forget your camera! After the drive, you’ll be driven back to Moshi.

Additional Information

An effortless 60-minute drive from Moshi or a 30-minute trip from Arusha gets you to Arusha National Park. This National Park, though near Arusha, is likely one of the least frequented, rendering it an exhilarating and fruitful offroad experience. Arusha National Park encompasses Mount Meru, a significant Volcano with a height of 4566 m, located in the Arusha region of North Eastern Tanzania. This park is petite but diverse, showcasing amazing landscapes in three different areas. The Jekukumia River is channeled by the Meru Crater in the west, with Mount Meru’s peak resting on its edge. Ngurudoto crater in the south-east is a grassland. The shallow saline Momella Lakes in the north-east exhibit different algal hues and are home to several wading birds. Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second highest peak after Mount Kilimanjaro, is just 60 km away and provides a scenic backdrop to the Eastward views from the park.

Nice Way to Spend the Day in Arusha - Park was full of baboons! We also saw giraffes, flamingos, warthogs. The walking safari to a waterfall was nice. The game drive was enjoyable.
