This route is ideal for those who prefer extended backpacking journeys in secluded wilderness areas with few other hikers nearby. One needs a minimum of eight days to ascend Kilimanjaro using the Northern Circuit, making it a path with an impressive summit success rate. A 9-day extended itinerary, which includes camping in the crater, is also an option.
