Additional Information

The Machame route tops the charts as the most utilized and triumphant path to reach the peak of Kilimanjaro. Hikers utilize tents for accommodation, provided by porters who carry them up the slope. The success of the Machame route is largely attributed to its geographical characteristics, enabling climbers to ascend to greater heights during the day and descend to lower altitudes for sleep, promoting effective acclimatization.
Mount Kilimanjaro boasts several intriguing facts that bolster its status as Africa’s premier tourist hotspot:
a) Valtee Daniel, a French individual, holds the record as the oldest person to ascend Mt. Kilimanjaro, doing so at the ripe old age of 87. Annually, this majestic mountain lures over 20,000 ambitious climbers. A typical expedition varies from five to nine days, contingent on the daily climbing duration.
b) Bernard Goosen, a South African, achieved the remarkable feat of mounting the peak twice in a wheelchair in 2003. His initial ascension took nine days, whereas he managed to top this on his subsequent attempt four years later taking only six days, making use of a customized wheelchair.
