Highlights
  • Marrakech - Either Hassan or Salah will be there to collect you from your accommodation or rendezvous with you at Hotel Ali by 9:30 a.m. (situated on Jamaa el Fna square). Commencing from this point, we’ll embark on a 1.5-hour drive towards the Atlas Mountains. Our initial visit will be to the charming village of Azrou. Following that, we’ll proceed to a female-run argan oil cooperative, where you’ll have the opportunity to sample fresh bread and oil accompanied by traditional Moroccan tea.

The subsequent destination is the vibrant and scenic Imlil valley. This delightful area features a swiftly flowing river, abundant nut trees, and numerous authentic Berber villages scattered throughout. We’ll then take a leisurely hike to my family’s home, where you can savor the breathtaking panorama from our rooftop terrace and indulge in a sumptuous Berber meal lovingly prepared by our mother.

Post-lunch, our trek continues on a gentle path offering spectacular views of the entire valley. Our chauffeur will be on standby to escort us back to Marrakech, with an expected return to the city around 6 p.m.

  • High Atlas Mountains - The guided excursions on Saturdays and Tuesdays are further enhanced by a stop at a local Berber farmer’s market. We also make a detour to visit Richard Branson’s Kasbah.

Note 1: Out of consideration for animal welfare, camel rides are no longer part of the experience.
Note 2: The total walking time is 2 hours, however, transportation is available for those who prefer not to walk

  • Imlil - Our trek concludes at the Imlil Centre with a refreshing cup of tea. You’ll get a glimpse into the lives of the local Berber community before we transport you back to your lodging in Marrakech, carrying with you wonderful memories of the enchanting Atlas Mountains.

A lovely hike up the Atlas Mountains with Hassan - The Atlas Day trip was quite smooth and lovely overall, special thanks to Hassan who was a great tour guide to us. First we were picked up in a private van, then taken to our first stop on the way to the mountains to experience the process of Argan oil making where we stopped to enjoy a hot cup of moroccan tea and bread with Amlou. We then started our hike form the base of the mountains where we met Hassan who walked us through his village, the Berber culture, the beautiful sights and finally to his house up in the mountains where his lovely family prepared a lovely meal for us (chicken tagine). We ended up doing this tour on Eid day, April 10th, we appreciated that he took the time out for us and welcomed us to his home where we were met with utmost hospitality.

A fabulous day - Our family had a lovely time exploring the villages and mountain paths in the high Andes. We were blessed with fantastic views, generous hospitality and an insight into mountain life. Hassan was patient, knowledgeable and engaging. And we will return for more adventures in this, truly remarkable and beautiful, part of the world.

The best day of our holiday! - Just got back from a trip to Morocco. Our trip to the Atlas mountains with Hassan was the absolute highlight of our holiday! It was me and my husband, plus our 2 x kids (ages 8 and 6) and my mum. Hassan was amazing with us all, especially the kids! He went out of his way to make our experience feel special. After 3 days spent sightseeing in the very busy centre of Marrakesh, the trip to the mountains was the perfect excursion to get away from the craziness for a while. Hassan arranged everything, so we didn't need to worry about anything. We stopped at lots of different places on the trip, including a local market and drank coffee next to a waterfall. The different places made the whole day super interesting and held the kids interest for the whole day. The meal at the end at Hassans family home was absolutely delicious. We had such a great day that we booked another trip with him for later on in the week. Brilliant trip. Would highly recommend!

Great day trip to the mountains from Marrakech - We really enjoyed our day trip out to the mountains from Marrakech. Hassan was a friendly, knowledgeable guide and visiting his village home for a truly authentic tagine meal was wonderful. The children loved the chance to ride a donkey up to the waterfalls, and then we took a mountainside walk through the cherry blossom 🙂

Highly Recommend this Fantastic Day in the Atlas Mountains - We had the most amazing day in The Atlas Mountains. Hussain collected us from our hotel and drove us to meet our guide. Hussain stopped a couple of times en route and took scenic photos of us. We drove through Asni which had been badly affected by the earthquake, was sad to see the crumbling buildings and so many people still living in tents. We met up with the wonderful Hassan who was our guide for the day. He spoke excellent English and loved telling us about his area. The hike up to the waterfalls was strenuous at times but we all really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend good walking shoes! After our time at the waterfalls we then walked up to Hassans house, where we had a very tasty tagine cooked by his wife, felt very special to be welcomed into their home. The views were amazing too. After lunch we walked back down to Ismil where we met up again with Hussain who drove us back to our hotel. I can highly recommend this day if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and see the countryside with amazing views and company. Hassan was the best guide and we’d love to come back again.

Superb day to discover the Atlas - Very good day with Hassan who showed us his valley and his village: beautiful photo stops, walk to see a waterfall and then go to Hassan's house, all with a lot of information on the life of the Berbers. And without forgetting the very good meal at Hassan's, cooked by his wife, and served on the terrace with a superb view of the mountains. Thank you Hassan for this great day!!😊
