Highlights
  • Gray Line - Meet your guide inside the Tourist Information Center for your afternoon tour of Montreal’s RESO, the world’s longest underground tunnel network, a multilevel maze of 21 miles (33 km) of walkways, passages and shopping malls.

Start off with an above-ground stroll, hitting some of the major sites in Montreal: the bustling Rue Sainte-Catherine, which runs parallel to the largest segment of the underground city; the neo-Gothic Christ Church Cathedral; Les Cours Mont-Royal, an elegant above-ground shopping mall; and Dorchester Square, the leafy late 19th-century plaza.

And then it’s time to descend into RESO. The Underground City began in 1962 under Place Ville-Marie and has been developing extensions ever since. The 1.5-hour tour covers a carefully selected portion of RESO (from réseau, French for ‘network’) to show you the highlights of this vast underworld. Learn the history of this engineering marvel from your expert local guide and walk the multi-level passageways learning about the best restaurants, bars and shops beneath Montreal.

A good place in Montreal - We have bad experience with a car in Montreal. We went to the city centre the next day using public transportation. This is a must for those taking the underground trains.

The Cathedral was the only thing worth visiting. - The Cathedral was good but otherwise there didn't seem to be much to see. There were lots of roads being dug up and the pavements were very poor with quite a lot of litter around.

The tour is a not a must see :-( - The tour started late because of the guide (15' late while tour is supposed to be like an hour long or so). The guide didn't really answer to questions and take care of some american tourists of the group in a self-serving way ? Must see because the underground network is famous but the tour is really not ! Disappointing.

Don’t book - There were none. The guide was awful and basically took our group to a Main Street where we stood around until everyone decided to leave since the guide wasn’t doing anything. Went back to tour office and requested refund.

Bad - Below expectations. Spent most of the tour above ground. Tour guide soft spoken and not very knowledgeable. Boring tour.

Skip this Tour - I booked this tour online and went to the checkin desk to confirm it would take place. I knew from past reviewers that they sometimes cancel tours and don't tell people. We met our tour guide at 1:30 PM at the tourist info center where the grayline booth is located. I think his name was Avika (strawberry blonde hair middle age man). He was local to Montreal. He wore a long sleeve flannel shirt and jeans during the summer so throughout the tour he was sweating a lot. He did not speak loudly. He seemed awkward. He did not make a good tour guide and it was noted by the 5 other people on the tour. 15 minutes of the tour is above ground standing on a corner and the guide pointing in directions and giving some explanations of buildings. The other 30 minutes are below ground. We were done with the tour within an hour. You basically walk through a few malls where they intersect with each other. I thought there would be more history to the tour instead of looking at shops. The only good part was seeing all the malls in a short period of time. All the malls had skylights so you didn't even notice being below ground.

Stay away from Gray Line!! - We should’ve known better, we got screwed over by gray line tours in the past in other countries and this one was no different. They canceled our tour but never bothered to tell us until we got there to take the tour. We planned our entire morning around this tour and it really screwed up our plans for our trip. As I said we should’ve known better, so take my advice and book with a smaller local company who actually cares about their customers instead of a big international conglomerate.

Cancelled my tour without even telling me! - I arrived today at the departure place to do my tour (which was fully paid) and was advised ON THE SPOT that the tour had been cancelled because other guests had cancelled. Nobody informed me even when they have my phone and email address because it was “last minute “ The assured me they would return my money today... nothing has happened!!!! Its horrible customer service and a very bad company DONT GO!
