Highlights
  • Plaza Independencia - After our meeting point at the Solis Theater we will go to Plaza Independencia, today being the main square of Uruguay, we will see the monuments and the meaning of the palm trees, plus other secrets that the city has. We will start with a historical introduction to Montevideo and Uruguay in general.
  • Monument to General Jose Gervasio de Artigas - At this point we will observe the meaning of the monument in the square and visit the Artigas Mausoleum, located below the monument.
  • Palacio Salvo - At this point we will observe the architecture of the building and we will talk about the history and legends of the place observing it from outside. In addition, it was a point of reference for the most famous Tango in the world “La Cumparsita”.
  • Estevez Palace - We will see one of the headquarters of the Executive Power that functioned that way until 1985.
  • Torre Ejecutiva - There we will see in passing the current headquarters of the Presidency, where the offices of the president are.
  • Puerta de la Ciudadela - Montevideo was a walled city, and we will see the remains of the Puerta de la Citadel, the entrance to the Colonial city.
  • Theatre Solis - We will see the first theater in the city from outside, and the first in South America. Also details of ruins of the old wall.
  • Peatonal Sarandi - We will walk through one of the most cosmopolitan pedestrian streets that the city of Montevideo has, where we will see the diversity of culture, we will also pass through the Callejon de la Diversidad within the same sector.
  • Plaza Matriz - The first square of the colonial city, we will see a monument that has many symbols of Freemasonry and we will talk about many surprising details.
  • Catedral de Montevideo - We will visit the first church of the city, and we will see all its secrets, the tombs that it preserves and the personalities that are there.
  • Cabildo de Montevideo - We will visit the Cabildo Museum, a multifunctional building with various exhibitions, alluding to the history of Colonial Montevideo, and the place where the Eastern Republic was born.
  • Mercado del Puerto - We will visit the most iconic market in the city, in addition to seeing the best grills (characteristic dish of Uruguay) we will also see the place where our typical alcoholic drink “Medio y Medio” was born and we will finish this point :)
